Explore the world with Global Fest - a virtual celebration - at 11 a.m. Aug. 21

Join us at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, for Global Fest, Aurora's annual celebration of international cultures and traditions.

Global Fest will be a virtual event in 2021, airing live on AuroraTV.org and the city's Facebook page. From the International Fashion Show and the Parade of Nations, to performances representing cultures from around the world, Global Fest is a recognition of Aurora's diversity and how it makes the community stronger.

The performance lineup includes the Philippine-American Society of Colorado, Amigos de Mexico, Nyadak Pal (South Sudanese traditional dance), and Nguyen Lion Dance. Forty-seven countries are represented in this year's Parade of Nations, and cultural attire from 10 countries will be featured in the International Fashion Show. Throughout the event, local international restaurants will be featuring demonstrations of their food.

Enjoy live music at free summer concert Aug. 26

Whether you need a break from the back-to-school rush, want to enjoy one more outdoor event while we still have warm days, or just want to have fun on a weekday evening outside the house, we've got you covered. Join the city of Aurora for the Aurora Rhythms summer concert Thursday, Aug. 26, starting at 5 p.m. at the Aurora Municipal Center Great Lawn, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway.

Grab your dancing shoes and be part of the only live and in-person concert organized by the city this year. The fun event will begin with a performance by Aurora Dance Arts, a program of the Cultural Services Division, dancing various styles such as jazz, tap and contemporary. And at 6 p.m. “Denver’s funnest, brassiest, party band,” Badda Boom Brass Band, will bring the house down with its seven- to 10-piece brass band and a broad repertoire spanning from New Orleans classics to new spins on pop hits.

The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. People are welcome to bring their own food, blankets and lawn chairs. No alcohol, glass containers, illegal substances or consumption of marijuana is allowed.
