Nature Exploration Area Community Celebration

Monarch Tagging – Community Science Project
Sunday, Aug. 30, 9 to 11 a.m.
Participate in the Monarch Watch project, a community science program that runs across the country to track the monarch migration. Learn about monarchs before going out into the field to catch, tag and release them. No experience required; ages 9 and older. This event is free, but registration is required.

The Aurora Cultural Arts District (ACAD) will come alive Friday, Sept. 4, as Colfax Canvas presents its 2026 Mural Fest in conjunction with ACAD's First Friday, bringing new public art, live music and creative activity to venues and businesses throughout the district. This is a great opportunity to explore galleries, restaurants, breweries, performance spaces and other creative destinations in the heart of Aurora’s creative district. Financial Skills Class

The city of Aurora is hosting a special one-time class next month focused on providing participants with the skills they need to feel confident in managing their money. This program is in addition to the one-on-one financial management counseling the city already offers. The class will focus on beginner-level financial management skills including creating a budget, saving money, understanding the role of credit and building healthy financial habits. Space is limited. “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History: Aurora” Exhibit
Through Nov. 7
The Aurora History Museum, in partnership with the Museum of Boulder, presents the exhibition “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History: Aurora.” The new exhibit is an adaptation of the Museum of Boulder’s award-winning “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History” and expands its statewide focus with new additions highlighting Aurora community leaders, educators, musicians, culinary artists and other influential local figures. Through photographs and stories of people, places and events, the exhibit explores Black American history in Colorado. Join the museum for a free gallery reception to see the exhibit and meet the contributors from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.

"Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Filipino Community" Exhibit
Through April 2027
The Aurora History Museum and the city’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs celebrate Aurora’s vibrant Filipino community with the new exhibition “Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Filipino Community.” The exhibit highlights the stories of individuals, business owners and their cultural traditions and history, and features cultural objects provided by community members, archival images, interviews and immersive elements to bring the essence of the Philippines to life, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about and appreciate this community’s cultural heritage.
