The free event is happening both inside and out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. Park on the west side to access the event.


When you arrive, stop at our tent to pick up an event passport to get stamped and be entered into a drawing for a gift basket.

Build Up Aurora: Let us know what infrastructure projects like public safety, parks, accessibility and more matter most to you.

Connecting Aurora: Tell us your thoughts about the multimodal transportation projects being proposed through our first-ever citywide transportation master plan.

Colfax BRT Next: Learn more and give feedback on a study to extend the Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project from I-225 (R Line) to Picadilly.

Radiating Possibilities: Share your ideas for the library’s strategic plan both at the event and at EngageAurora.org/LibraryVision.


All of these projects are helping care for the city’s network of infrastructure that improves the lives of Aurora residents.

Apply for the Civic Engagement Academy


Want to learn how your local government works? Apply for the Aurora Civic Engagement Academy to better understand city operations, leadership and decision-making. This free eight-week program is designed to educate and empower residents by providing an inside look at city government.


This year’s Civic Engagement Academy takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings from April 23 through June 4 at different locations in the city. The class is limited to 30 participants who must be residents of Aurora or be employed at a business with a physical presence in Aurora.


Participants will explore key topics, including Aurora’s council/manager government structure, roles and responsibilities of elected officials, the influence of HOAs and neighborhood groups, how city boards and commissions shape policy, the process of turning a proposed ordinance into law, how City Council meetings work, the city budget and its impact, city departments and their functions and more. Participants will also engage in a community project after completing the program.

Special electronics recycling pricing March 31 to April 11


The city is offering another special pricing opportunity for electronics recycling with our e-cycling partner, Pedal Point LifeCycle Solutions (formerly Techno Rescue). The facility at 3251 Lewiston St., Suite 10, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (closed Sunday) from March 31 to April 11 for the special event.


Most electronic items are accepted. Each carload is $5, with some additional fees for select items like flat screen TVs and CRT monitors to address the rising costs associated with processing select electronics. This event is for Aurora residents only (no businesses).

High Line Canal Cleanup

Saturday, March 29, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Join the High Line Canal Conservancy for a community trash cleanup along the canal in Aurora, and help preserve the health and beauty of the canal habitat. All ages and abilities are welcome (children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times).

Global Flavors Application Deadline March 30

There’s still time to be part of Global Flavors 2025! Local food providers are invited to nominate a globally inspired dish, drink or dessert from their menu by Sunday, March 30. In May, the public will have the opportunity to visit participating businesses, purchase and taste the featured items and vote for their favorites. The winners will be announced at Global Fest, the city’s signature event, taking place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14. The top three places will also be featured on AuroraTV and the city’s social media platforms.

Fox Flix: "The NeverEnding Story"

Saturday, April 19, 2 p.m.

On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called "The NeverEnding Story," Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by "The Nothing," a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive. Admission is $5, with drinks and snacks available for purchase.
