Experience fun summer adventures in Aurora


Summer is right around the corner, and the city of Aurora has tons of ways for you to enjoy the season! Whether you’re looking to catch a movie under the stars, explore our beautiful parks and open spaces or keep the kids active and learning all summer long, there’s something for everyone.


Here’s what’s heating up this summer:


  • Global Fest: Now in its 12th year, Global Fest is a free, multicultural experience bringing the sights, sounds and flavors of nations from around the world to celebrate the diverse people and communities that call Aurora home. Join the fun from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14.
  • Summer Activity Guide: From quilting at the Aurora Center for Active Adults to fitness classes at Moorhead Recreation Center and pickleball at the Southeast Recreation Center, our June through August lineup offers something for all ages and interests.
  • Music at the Movies: Enjoy free live concerts and family-friendly movies under the stars at community parks across Aurora! Each event kicks off at 5 p.m. Dates: May 28, June 25, July 9 and July 23.
  • Parks and Open Space: With over 100 parks and thousands of acres of open space, Aurora offers endless ways to get outside and enjoy nature—whether you’re hiking, biking or just soaking up the sun.
  • Camps: Keep the kids active and engaged all summer long! From full-day adventures to specialty camps in sports, art, STEM and more—there are limited spots available, so register today.
  • Summer of Imagination: Visit Aurora Public Library from May 27 to July 19 to color your world! For eight weeks, children, teens and adults can explore their library and be part of the summer reading program, for free. Participants who sign up will receive a free book, an activity log filled with reading challenges and colorful activities and the chance to win exciting prizes along the way.
  • Aurora Rhythms 2025: This concert series will take place from May to December at different locations throughout the city, offering live music, unique performances and unforgettable experiences.
  • Summer Vibes: From family field days to art in the park and glow-in-the-dark dodgeball, this event series brings fun across Aurora all season long, specifically for teens ages 10 to 17. Dates: June 4, July 16 and Aug. 6
  • Party for Pollinators: Join us Saturday, June 21, for a buzzing celebration of nature’s hardest workers! Enjoy crafts, garden tours, story time and learn how to support pollinators at home.
  • 4th of July Spectacular: Mark us down for your Independence Day plans because you’re invited to our annual 4th of July Spectacular event from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 4. The event will be filled with live entertainment, food and most importantly fun. The fireworks display will start at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Create more beautiful, sustainable landscaping with Water-wise Day


Join City Council and Aurora Water at the annual Water-wise Day in the beautiful Aurora Water-wise Garden, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. This fun, educational event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, will showcase ways to create a stunning, sustainable landscape.


Discover garden tours, booths, raffles and expert speakers. You'll get tips from plant and irrigation professionals, explore water-wise design ideas and connect with local resources–all in one place.


Breakfast burritos will be provided for the first 100 guests. No registration is necessary. Go to AuroraGov.org/Conservation for more information.

Teens participating in academy activities

Calling all teens for Global Teen Police Academy


Do you know a teen interested in law enforcement? Applications are open for the 2025 Global Teen Police Academy. Offered by the Aurora Police Department, this free, hands-on, two-week program is open to students ages 14 to 17 in grades 9 to 12.


The academy runs from June 9 to 20 and July 14 to 25, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Participants will explore topics like SWAT, K9, investigations and more, all led by police officers. This program is open to all metro youth, with priority given to Aurora residents. A background check is required.

Engage at Any Age Walk 'N' Roll


Get moving and have some fun at the third annual Engage at Any Age Walk ‘N’ Roll, a community celebration of health, connection and active living. Join city staff at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, at the Aurora Center for Active Adults, 30 Del Mar Circle, for a 1-mile walk (or roll!) around beautiful Del Mar Park. This free event is open to all ages and abilities.


Kick off the morning with a fun group warmup, then walk or roll at your own pace. After the stroll, stick around for breakfast, music and goodie bags.

Triple Creek Trailhead

Calling all artists for proposals


The city of Aurora Art in Public Places program is looking for an artist to create a sculpture/art installation for the upcoming Triple Creek Trailhead Project. The work should reflect the natural beauty of the area and celebrate the convergence of trails and landscape.

High Line Canal Birding Walk at DeLaney Farm

The High Line Canal Conservancy has teamed up with Denver Audubon to offer guided birding walks along the canal—no experience or birding knowledge needed! These family friendly walks are open to bird enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Fox Flix: "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure"

Saturday, May 10, 2 p.m.

Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens), an eccentric child-like man, loves his red bicycle and will not sell it to his envious neighbor, Francis (Mark Holton). While Pee-wee visits his friend Dottie (Elizabeth Daily), the bike is stolen. Thinking his bike is at the Alamo, Pee-wee sets off on a trip, where he meets many remarkable people, including waitress Simone (Diane Salinger) and a motorcycle gang. Eventually, Pee-wee discovers that his bike is being used in a movie and tries to recover it. Admission is $5, with drinks and snacks available for purchase.

2025 Aurora Rhythms presents “My Man Godfrey: Life Radio Play”

The 2025 Aurora Rhythms concert series will take place from May to December at different locations throughout the city, including Aurora Public Library branches, the Aurora Fox Arts Center and the Peoples Building, offering live music, unique performances and unforgettable experiences. Join us for a very special Colorado Remembers event at the Colorado Freedom Memorial to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. "Prehistoric Aurora” Exhibition

Through April 5, 2026

What did Aurora look like one million years ago? What kind of prehistoric creatures roamed in Aurora 65 million years ago? These and other fascinating questions are answered at the new Aurora History Museum exhibition “Prehistoric Aurora” showcasing Aurora’s oldest story. Visitors will discover the changing landscape of Aurora through time and learn about the kinds of creatures that would have been found in our city. The exhibition includes fossils found in the metro area, including Littleton’s T-Rex and Thorton’s Torosaurus. An opening reception, open to the public, will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
