In 1923, the Harlem Renaissance writer Jean Toomer published  Cane , a highly experimental and lyrical novel that wove together diverse stories of African American characters. In 2000, Arion Press collaborated with contemporary sculptor and printmaker Martin Puryear to create woodcut prints to illustrate a new edition of the novel. Discover Puryear's enthralling and rarely seen prints inspired by the novel Cane until June 23.

Create your own stories and memories with your 1st through 6th grader at our final Family First Workshop of the month! Taking inspiration from Martin Puryear: Cane , participants will create their own relief print from balsa wood that can be reprinted several times.

Reynolda's iconic green roof was installed over 100 years ago by the Ludowici Tile Company and in 2018, the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded Reynolda House the largest grant in Museum history to repair and replace it. Join deputy director Phil Archer as he presents on one of the largest objects in Reynolda's collection.

We've teamed up with CycleBar Winston-Salem to offer up a 45-minute cycling class on the front lawn of Reynolda! Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to get your sweat (and philanthropy!) on. All proceeds from this class will go towards Reynolda House. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

A backyard summer tradition on Reynolda’s Sunset Hill, Summertime Social offers a laid-back evening with friends with great food and cold brews for purchase. Grab a blanket or lawn chair, exhale from the stresses of the day, and dance the evening away to high energy sounds of Winston-Salem’s Souljam.

Dive in to a world of poetry and prose at Reynolda this summer with your 6th–9th grader! This workshop will engage participants in the writing process from prewriting to publishing. Be inspired by works of art and history through art activities and end your day with a dip in the historic pool!
