National Special Education Day

December 2 was National Special Education Day. Children in care or who have been adopted from foster care are more likely to face challenges in school. Often, they might qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Understanding the process to qualify and the accommodations and help available through IEPs can be crucial in ensuring your child’s success.

For the Fun of It

December 12th is Gingerbread House Day! Making Gingerbread Houses together is a great holiday family tradition that all members can participate in and it is a fun activity no matter which winter holiday your family celebrates. Winter brings the opportunity to gather together inside and build connections playing games or making simple crafts together.

Meet Eli

Meet Elies! 14-year-old Elies is pretty tech-savvy and dreams of working in the IT field when he is older. He prefers to be called “Eli” and although he often comes off as a pretty serious young man, he enjoys connecting with others and likes to laugh! Eli wants to learn how to successfully become independent and would thrive in a family who can offer a lot of support and guidance during this time in his life. He is open to living anywhere and would be happy in the suburbs or a country-like setting, especially if there are animals around! His favorite food is pineapple pizza and he has a healthy appetite. Eli does well in a calm, quiet environment. He finds solace in music and nature and is into tattoos. He is in planning mode for a tattoo he hopes to get once he turns 18 and enjoys thinking about the design. Like most teens his age, he would love to be a part of a family where gaming was part of everyday life.
