Dear Daniels Customer Hello, again. Well our inaugural "This Just In..." issue was, by most accounts, pretty successful. We received lots of wonderful comments, people played our World Cup quiz - Sal M. won the gift card by guessing Germany and Carol W was the recipient of her favorite movie, "Ever After." Congratulations to both. August is that month that we cling to. It's summer's last gasp and we just don't want to let it go, even if it gets a bit hot and sticky. That's why we have air conditioning for those sultry nights, or fans that swirl the moist air into a cocoon that allows for that deep summertime sleep. So let's celebrate all things summer as we enjoy the "last" 31 days and begin to prepare ourselves for what autumn has to offer.

Down By The Beach
The New York Times recently published a recollection of the 'beach slang' of the 1920s. We were captivated by it and thought you might be too. So, if you head to the beach and hear this vocabulary bandied about - well either you're speaking with a 100 year old beachcomer or...everything old is new again.
Oyster - a person who is tight with money
Swordfish - a person who is always prying into parties
Life-Guard - a chaperone (how '20s!)
Lifesaving Station - a bootlegger
Eel - a dancing gent who knows the new numbers
Sand Bruise - a dumbbell who's broke
Barnacle - a young gent who has everything - but money
Smokestack - a flapper who is a habitual cigarette fiend.

Movie & Dinner
It's August, time to find the last remaining drive-in theater (there's one in Southington) and hope they have a special showing of The Big Lebowski. If they don't - that's what Netflix is for. Either way - this is our movie of the month.  And we think a great spot for BBQ before the show (or to take home) is Nat Hayden's Real Pit Barbecue in the center of Windsor. Thinking of Converting?
Over the early part of the summer we had a dozen calls for conversions. Oil to propane or oil to natural gas. Most were from new folks, others from Daniels customers. Monica J. of Middletown asked if we did oil to natural gas conversions. We hated losing her as an oil customer, but we were delighted to install a new Energy Kinetics System 2000 boiler for her. We'll continue to provide service and maintenance on her system for years to come. We switched out the systems, removed the old oil tank and had her up and running in less than 48 hours.
Not more than a week later we heard from Margaret L. in Essex. She wanted to convert from oil to cleaner, less expensive propane. We were happy to help her with a new system - and we added her as a new Daniels Propane customer. Today it works flawlessly.
