The poet said, "April is the cruelest month," but we disagree. March can really be a challenging viper!
She teases with 57 degrees of warmth and sunshine and just when you are slipping on those summer shorts she comes back with sleet and a 14" snowfall.
Of course, March does have her pleasures - this year Marti Gras (March 4th), St. Patrick's a day and night to raise a glass or three and thankfully - Daylight Savings begins on the 9th so there will be more sunshine in our lives.
At least, we hope that is true for all of you.

A Word Or Three About Hemp | |
|
On July 2, 1982, Larry Walters made a 45-minute flight in an ordinary lawn chair attached to 42 helium-filled weather balloons.
Yes, this is true.
The aircraft rose to an altitude of about 16,000 feet drifted from the point of liftoff in San Pedro, California.
He took his pellet gun, a CB radio, sandwiches, 2 liters of Coca-Cola, a pack of beer and a camera. When the cord that tied his lawn chair to his Jeep broke prematurely, before the end of a planned delay, Walters's lawn chair rose rapidly to a height of about 16,000 feet and was spotted from two commercial airliners.
After 45 minutes in the sky, Walters shot several balloons with a pellet gun, taking care not to unbalance the load. He then accidentally dropped his pellet gun overboard. Despite having taken a camera, he did not take any photos.
He descended slowly, until the balloons' dangling cables became caught in a power line. He landed unharmed.

Walters was immediately arrested. Regional safety inspector Neal Savoy was reported to have said, "We know he broke some part of the Federal Aviation Act, and as soon as we decide which part it is, some type of charge will be filed. If he had a pilot's license, we'd suspend that, but he doesn't."
The flight attracted worldwide media attention and inspired a movie, a musical and numerous imitators. Walters initially was fined $4,000. He appealed, and the fine was reduced to $1,500.
Just after landing, Walters spoke to the press, saying:
It was something I had to do. I had this dream for twenty years, and if I hadn't done it, I think I would have ended up in the funny farm.
And now…what have YOU done to merit mention in, “This Just In…”

They were huge.
Very big.

Funk, reggae, progressive rock, jazz, blue grass they could and did play it. To HUGE concerts. Who in the heck are they? Tell us here and you can win just enough to buy one of their albums…on vinyl.
Last month 206 of you and Deborah S and Martin B recognized "Hannibal" – aka: Mads Mikkelsen, nearly 50 of you – including Mary Jo M. and Brian K. knew that Horst Horst (not a typo) was the photographer and 27 of you – including the brilliant Jennifer C and Ms. CW figured out a way for Harriet to punctuate her way out of a bad decision.
(Here’s how the punctuation of the letter needed to be):
Dear John:
I want a man who knows what love is. All about you are generous, kind, thoughtful people, who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me. For other men, I yearn. For you, I have no feelings whatsoever. When we’re apart, I can forever be happy. Will you let me be?
Yours,
Harriet
(Personally, I never liked Harriet all that much)
Hope you liked that one because next month’s HARD quiz is going to be the toughest EVER!

FYI – It’s said he was actually born in
Scotland in the 5th century.
His father Calpurnius was a tax collector.
His grandfather, Potitus was a priest.
He was captured by Irish pirates at age 16, enslaved for 6 years.
He was forced to be a shepherd, escaped, traveled back to Britain.
Had a vision, became a Christian missionary – and went back to Ireland!
Became the patron said of Ireland.
Yeah, great story.

Super silly and inventive…this is like an animated movie with video game elements made with live-action actors. If you’re the sort of person who loves movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you’ll probably love this movie. Kids will too. It’s like…nothing else.

“La Charrette” by Felix Vallotton, 1911
Vallotton was a Swiss and French painter and printmaker associated with the group of artists known as Les Nabis.
He was an important figure in the development of the modern woodcut. He painted portraits, landscapes, nudes, still-lifes, and other subjects in an unemotional, realistic style. Really amazing art, take a look.

Let’s talk about the Pingualuit Crater in northern Quebec—a jaw-dropping geological marvel created by a meteor impact 1.4 million years ago. This isn’t just any crater; it boasts a diameter of 2.14 miles housing Lake Pingualuk, plunging an astonishing 876 feet deep.
This lake isn’t your average body of water; it’s celebrated for having some of the purest water on the planet, with a supply so pristine that it relies solely on rain and snow. No rivers mucking things up here.
It’s now wrapped in the protective embrace of Pingualuit National Park, which came into being in 2004. If you’re in search of breathtaking sights and ancient wonders, this is the place where nature flaunts its genius.
