"This Just In..."

Is there a better month than May?

The chill in the air is gone, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, the taxes for the first quarter are paid - c'mon how much better does it get than that?

Well, yes, of course, there's always the newest edition of "This Just In..."

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do bringing it to you.

The Market

Things have not gotten any better since we sent our special e-mail in mid-March. Inflation continues, over 8% during March and April was expected to be well over 5% as well.

The energy market, due to the Ukrainian war, Russian ruble collapse, and just the dismal condition of America’s reduced production capacity, is in continual turmoil. Yes, American producers are ramping up but they still face challenges brought on by the financial damages of the pandemic. And it’s not just fuel oil. Natural gas prices have climbed dramatically in the last year – mirroring fuel oil, diesel and propane.

Natural gas prices have spiked to over $7.50MMbtu – which portends a rise to as high as $8.00 (or worse) next winter. Compare that with $2.73 last May. That’s an increase of 175%.

And that is before – sorry – the increase in PURA charges for line clearances are passed along.

You can see that oil, propane, natural gas – they are all connected. The moment one fuel becomes a “better buy” the market makers rushes in to capture that price.

That leaves the rest of us – wholesalers, retailers and consumer trying to adjust budgets and buys. Which is another reason to consider budgeting your way through next year’s heating season.

So - let’s talk budgeting.

Just like the federal government each of us has a budget. OK, yours may be slightly smaller but no less important.

Which is why, with the shock of this spring’s oil price rise, it’s important to consider signing up for a budget plan for next heating season. Remember, if your current budget plan was say, $240 a month, it is likely that it will be closer to $425 this fall.

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News

New plans begin in July and can really help smooth out the often dramatic highs and lows of the energy market. And remember Daniels always accepts both Mastercard and Discover.

For any of these opportunities – or to discuss your current heating plan – or if new heating or air conditioning equipment is on your wish list – please give us a call

Quiz #1

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022

That's a face.

Tell us who it is and you may win an Amazon gift card which you could use to buy any of his movies. Or, ya know, maybe just some wrinkle cream.

Just a Reminder

Well, three, actually.

Daniels has expanded its duct cleaning service. Last year we found many of you asked us for this service, so we’ve decided to build it up some.

Now is the time to schedule your duct cleaning to keep those nasty spores, dust mites, mold, mildew, and other debris from getting in your lungs.

Yeah, that’s important. Here’s a before and after reminder.

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022

Call us now and we’ll schedule a cleaning in the weeks before the weather warms up.

And…while we are at it, ask us to check your oil tank. Or you can DIY it yourself. In fact, it’s pretty important. Tell-tale signs that your tank is getting old – older than 20+ years – is rust on the body or wet spots or stains on your basement floor.

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022
Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022

If your tank is outside – well then it is even more important to keep an eye on it as weather can really do a job on your tank. Daniels has a brand new tank in stock, ready to replace your old one. One call will solve a problem – you don’t want to have!

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022

One final thought – the supply chain. We’ve all heard that phrase and we have felt its impact from lack of toilet paper to fewer cars on dealer lots to the term “backordered” for virtually everything you need.

That’s why we’ve acquired a considerable supply of new boilers, furnaces and air conditioning systems from Trane, Mitsubishi, ThermoPride, Energy Kinetics and Rinnai Tankless.

And now …introducing Viessmann Boilers.

Everyone is trying to save money.

Over the last few years we’ve scoured the marketplace to find new equipment        that after testing and some experience, we feel comfortable recommending.

Viessmann Boilers are wall-mounted propane-fired condensing boilers that are one of the most economical and cleanest ways to generate heat – and reduce your environmental footprint.

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News

Condensing technology utilize the heat from the combustion of the propane, but with a corrosion-resistant, self-cleaning, stainless steel Inox-Radial heat exchanger the unused heat is returned to the heating system. That heat would normally escape up the chimney with a traditional heating system.

Thus, a 90% efficient system – pretty good today – becomes nearly 98% effective. That translates to as much as a 30% savings in annual heating costs. Plus, your Viessmann heats your home’s hot water too – reducing that cost by as much as 50%.

And then there’s your CO2 reductions. Depending upon the size of your system – you can reduce your CO2 emissions by as much as one ton a year!

There’s so much more to tell you about with this new system. Call and ask a Daniels representative for more information and a detailed description of how effective and efficient the new Viessmann Boilers are.

“He looked about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food.”

“She looked almost as hard to get as a haircut.”

“The smell of old dust hung in the air as flat and stale as a football interview.”

“Her face fell apart like a bride’s pie crust.”

“This car sticks out like spats at an Iowa picnic.”

“I belonged in Idle Valley like a pearl onion on a banana split.”

“A few locks of dry white hair clung to his scalp, like wild flowers fighting for life on a bare rock.”

“Then she straightened the bills out on the desk and put one on top of the other and pushed them across. Very slowly, very sadly, as if she was drowning a favorite kitten.”

“If you use similes,” he once suggested, “try and make them both extravagant and original.”

Meet 65-year-old Lyn Slater.

Until recently, Lyn had been an ordinary professor at Fordham University. One day she went to meet a friend for lunch outside the Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week.

Foreign journalists suddenly surrounded her, mistaking her for a fashion icon and attracting spectators It was a defining moment that turned Lyn into an ‘Accidental Icon’.

Her blog of the same name, inspired by the experience, soon began making international waves. She is now a public voice against ageism in the fashion industry and the world.

“We use language to control people’s behavior. This phrase is a way of putting older women in their place. I’m certain that if you feel comfortable in your own clothes, it’s completely irrelevant how old you are.”

What Do You Suppose Just Happened?

Daniels Energy Special Customer Savings News- May 2022

Something You've Probably Never Seen.

Daisugi is an ancient Japanese method where shoots of the base Sugi (Cryptomeria) are pruned so that trunks are straight.

This results in creating a platform for other trees that grow back every 20 years. It was invented after there was a massive shortage of Sugi tree seedlings because the Sugi was desired in creating teahouses.

Today Daisugi is considered just fancy horticulture instead of a sustainable method of logging. More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daisugi
