Today, May 7, we join communities across the country in observing the National Day of Prayer — a day to pause, to reflect, and to realign our hearts. Established by Congress in 1952 and later fixed to the first Thursday of May in 1988, this day invites people of all traditions to turn toward prayer in whatever way is meaningful to them.
Just a few weeks ago, in March, many Christian communities around the world observed the World Day of Prayer, reminding us that the call to prayer stretches far beyond borders, languages, and traditions. Together, these moments invite us to step back from the noise of daily life and remember the deeper sources of hope, courage, and compassion.
And with Mother’s Day just days away, we are reminded of the steady love that nurtures, forgives, and quietly holds families together. The kind of love that listens first. The kind that chooses patience over reaction. The kind that builds peace in ordinary moments.
Because peace in the world begins with peace within, we are excited to share two beautiful companion resources from our Disarming Our Hearts series — simple tools you can use at home, at your own pace:
These are practical, accessible guides designed to help you live peace in daily life.
The Examen offers a gentle structure for reflecting on your day — noticing where you reacted, where you listened, and where you might begin again tomorrow.
The Perpetual Calendar provides steady, repeatable daily practices — small invitations that cultivate awareness, humility, compassion, restraint, and prayer. It can be used year after year, returning you to the work of the heart whenever you need it.
Both resources are available at no cost and are perfect for individuals, families, ministry leaders, or anyone seeking a more intentional way to grow in peace.

And we are also delighted to announce something new. As part of our Disarming Our Hearts: Becoming Peace series, we are launching:
Restorative Justice for Everyday Life
Wednesday, May 27, 2026
10:00am – 12:00pm
When many people hear “Restorative Justice,” they think of prisons or courtrooms. In reality, restorative practices began long before legal systems — and they belong just as much in families, friendships, ministry settings, workplaces, and communities.
This introductory workshop explores how restorative principles can transform the way we respond to conflict in daily life. It is practical, interactive, and accessible. No prior knowledge is required. Because repair begins wherever people are willing to listen, take responsibility, and rebuild trust.
This month of May, the invitation is simple:
Pause.
Reflect.
Soften.
Begin again.
We would be honored to walk that path with you.
With gratitude and hope,
The Peace & Spirituality Center
