New: 100 Item Checkout Limit
The library now has a limit of 100 items you may have checked out on your library card at any given time. In total, you can only have 100 library items checked out on your library card of any material. Launchpads, Playaway Views and Wonderbooks will still have a limit of 2 per family.

If you’ve been paying attention to the increase in anti-Asian hate crimes in the past year and want to learn more about Asian-American history from Asian-American voices, then this is your chance; May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
Literary Carousel 2-Week Festival Coming in June
The library's annual Literary Carousel will be held from June 2-10 this year in a tent outside the library. From puppet shows to storytelling, from crafts to author readings, there will be an event for every age and interest! Attend 3 or more events for the chance to win a raffle. We will be posting more information about Carousel in the coming weeks on our website.
Join us for Summer Reading 2021: Tails & Tales
Get excited; it's almost summer reading time! This year's program will last from June 1 - July 17, and the theme is Tails & Tales. We will host a variety of programs for all ages, including pick-up craft kits, animal balloons, a visit from the Potawatomi Zoo, an animal photography contest, and more. We also have a fun line-up of raffle prizes this year. Remember, the more you read, the more tickets you get to enter in the raffle!

Story Time at Riverbend Park
Tuesday, May 4, 10 a.m.
Join Ms. Beth at River Bend Park for Story Time @ The Park! We miss seeing your faces IN PERSON and hearing you sing along, so let's get together at the park. We will do the same things we always do for story time: songs, manipulatives (scarves, shakers, etc), books, and FUN! Please register before the first class and bring something to sit on during class (a blanket or lawn chair). We will practice social distancing.
Zoom Lego Club
Tuesday, May 4, 4 p.m.
Lego Club is our time to build Legos together, talk about our days, and see our friends. It is as social as it is educational. This month, the challenge is to build a musical instrument. This is open to all kids age 5 through grade 5.
Zoom Story Time

Not comfortable with in-person story time or can't make it on Tuesdays? Join Ms. Beth for Zoom Story Time on Wednesdays! We will make it as similar as our in-person programs as we can. This is open to all kids of all ages who are home.
Zoom Craft Club: Marbled Paper

Our final Craft Club before Summer Reading is going to be lots of fun! We are making marbled paper. It is an easy project and Ms. Beth can't wait to show you how to make some really cool art! Register by May 5 to receive a kit and the Zoom link. The video will be posted on Facebook May 7th.
Fermented Foods

Fermenting food has lots of health benefits and produces some of the tastiest foods: cheese, sauerkraut, bread, and more. At this Zoom program for adults, learn about the history and science of fermentation, find out how to make fermented foods at home, and watch a live demo on making sauerkraut. Intro to Taekwondo
Wednesday, May 12, 6:30 p.m.
Learn about the Korean martial art of taekwondo and practice some basic self-defense moves at this introductory class led by Master Nick of Hoosier Taekwondo. Appropriate for teens and adults, this class will be held outdoors at the Riverbend Park; masks are recommended but not mandatory. Join us at this program to help celebrate Asian American Heritage Month!
Zoom Young Learner's Club
Thursday, May 13, 6 p.m.
Join this program to learn how to make an elevator and catapult! Young Learners Club is a STEM program focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Young Learner's Club is open to all students in grades K-5. Register by the Tuesday before Club Meetings to have a packet of supplies prepared for you. The recording of this program will be posted the next day.
Self-Care Kit Pickup
May 17-22
The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us. If you’re feeling stressed, isolated, or burnt out, pick up one of our free self-care kits and set aside some time to unwind and focus on your needs. In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, these kits include items like tea, a stress ball, breathing exercises, and more. We have a limited number of kits, so reserve yours by signing up today! After registering, you can pick up your kit at the front desk of the library during opening hours, May 17-22.
