MARTIN LUTHER ~ PRAYER FOR EVERY NEED

Dear Father give us our daily bread, good seasons and health.  Protect us from war, disease, and drought.  If you would tempt me a bit by withholding your blessings for a while, then your will be done.  If my time is up and my hour has come, deliver me  from all evil.  If not, give me strength and patience.  Amen.
UPDATE:  BATON ROUGE AREA FLOODING
Camp Restore Baton Rouge, at Trinity Oaks

District DDRC Rev. Ed Brashier has been working with Pastor David Buss, Trinity - Baton Rouge, in coordinating volunteer work teams.  If you wish to volunteer, contact DCE Nick Butcher at [email protected].

"FAMILY TO FAMILY" will be available as families are identified who can be matched to a congregation or family willing to provide support and encouragement to a family in the affected area.  If your congregation or a family or individual would be interested in this, please contact Kathy Wendling at [email protected].  She will be compiling a list of interested congregations and families with the idea of pairing them when the time is right.

There is still a need for donations -- Pastor Ed has requested Gatorade and Trail Mix!!
These can be delivered to the Southern District Office at 100 Mission Dr., Slidell, LA Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM or to Camp Restore in Baton Rouge.

USING ALL AVAILABLE RESOURCES

NOVEMBER 2016
As a Family of Faith, when facing a challenging task, we may ask ourselves: How are we ever going to get this done? Ultimately, the solution includes lots of prayer and usually includes "Using all available resources." That means relying on and putting into action all of the gifts God has given us to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
The new stewardship web pages include a section on How We Can Help. Here you will find a selected set of specific resources that have proven practical application in our congregations. Resources are grouped into four categories to make searching easier: Assessment Tools, Awareness Helps, Preaching and Teaching Materials, and Generosity.  Each resource includes a short description with links to actual materials for review and downloads for use. Here is a peek at just some of the Preaching and Teaching Materials you can add to your available resources tool box.

Bulletin & Newsletter Information
Stewardship bulletin sentences and newsletter articles are available for congregations to feature in church publications. Bulletin sentences are based on the one-year and three-year lectionary.  Download bulletin, newsletter resources

Bible Stewardship Principles
The LCMS recommends using these Bible Stewardship Principles in guiding education and appeal efforts in Synod congregations, entities, agencies and auxiliaries. The principles feature a leader's guide and are available in four different languages plus three age-appropriate versions. Read guide and principles
Lighter Pine Stewardship

A four-part bulletin series highlighting stewardship as a response to the Gospel what God has done for us in Christ.  Lighter pine story provides an ongoing thread that focuses on time, talents (gifts), treasure, and testimony (witness). A half-page (two sides) that congregations can use as a bulletin insert. We don't have to be big old stumps full of the Gospel to fuel the stewardship fire. We can be a small piece of lighter pine kindling that responds to the Gospel blessings God has given us by grace through faith.

LCMS Stewardship

LCMS Stewardship Ministry plans educational opportunities and provides ongoing support for pastors and lay leaders as they implement Christ-centered stewardship plans in their congregations. Download information sheet

                                    THE GIFT OF GENEROSITY-Electronic Giving

A definition of generous includes this phrase:
Freely sharing valuable things.   Freely sharing
. . .no strings attached. . .no tit for tat. . .nothing expected in return.   Valuable things: your child. What is more valuable than a life of someone you love beyond measure?   As we reflect on this message, remember Those Who Don't Yet Know Jesus.  Your continued support for the mission and ministry of the Southern District is requested.

If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings, we encourage you to look into our electronic online giving options.
