20th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH
MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI

Trinity Lutheran Church marked its 20th anniversary on September 15, 2016.
Twenty years ago, Sunday mornings were called America's most segregated hours. In 1996 three area Lutheran Churches (Good Shepherd of Meridian, Our Savior in Butler, and Christ Lutheran of Meridian) joined together to form Trinity Lutheran Church as a celebration of our unity in faith amidst cultural diversity. Good Shephard was a predominately black church; Our Savior and Christ were predominately white churches. Coming together as one people of God brought growth and we began our church building expansion program in 2001. We celebrated the retirement of our debt obligation by burning the mortgage during the celebration held September 18. Karen Miller, Sunday School Superintendent, lead the children in creating a time capsule to be buried and retrieved in twenty years.
We were blessed to have Southern District President Kurtis Schultz deliver the message during the worship service. His message was titled, "What in the World Are You Doing?" Our pastor, Rev. Ken Boudreau, officiated and was assisted by our former pastor, Rev. Philip Wottrich, of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney, TX. Pastor Wottrich served as trinity's first pastor from 1996 until 2005, when he was called to be the pastor of Holy Trinity in Covington, LA, shortly before Hurricane Katrina arrived. Harold Woodworth of Hattiesburg served as our interim pastor until Rev. Kenneth Boudreau accepted God's call to be our pastor in 2007. It is our joy that God continues to bless our church with the unity of Christ as brothers and sisters, united as one people of God, making our diversity a welcoming blessing in an ever more divisive world. We look forward to the next twenty years with faith and hope for a future of being God's hands and showing God's love to the world.

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd
 Biloxi, Mississippi
 Rev. James Garnett
The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is celebrating its 60 year anniversary. Good Shepherd was chartered October 30, 1956. The theme for their weeklong celebration is 60 Years Celebrating Christ as our Cornerstone. Special events begin on Sunday, October 23rd with worship led by Rev. Dr. Gerald B. (Jerry) Kieschnick, President Emeritus, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Pastor of Good Shepherd from 1970 until 1973. The Congregation will join for Lunch at McElroy's Seafood Restaurant on the Bayou. Then on Wednesday Night, October 26th there will be a Nebraska Style Steak Dinner at 6:00 PM in the Church Fellowship Hall and Evening Prayer with Rev. Karl Hollibaugh who was Interim Pastor of Good Shepherd, from 2011 until 2015. On Saturday Night, October 29th the congregation will gather for a Cake and Ice Cream Birthday Party at 6:00 PM in Church Fellowship Hall. Finally, Good Shepherd will celebrate their anniversary on Reformation Sunday on October 30th. A special time of showing pictures and telling our story will be at 9:00 AM in the Church Fellowship Hall. Worship will be with Rev. James Garnett, Pastor of Good Shepherd, from 2015 until present. In addition the congregation is celebrating with a new pictorial directory and commemorative tee-shirts. Good Shepherd invites all our brothers and sisters in Christ to join us as we celebrate what God has done, what God is doing, and what God will do. To God be all the Glory.

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Biloxi, MS

Where the beautiful Biloxi Back Bay meets the Mississippi Sound of the Gulf of Mexico
the Lutheran
Church of the Good Shepherd  took the message of Jesus to the 35th Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival. For three years in a row Good Shepherd has participated in the festival. Congregational members took shifts in greeting festival goers by being the ears and mouth of Jesus. In addition to handing out God's Word, members were available to share and pray with anyone who might need a moment to unwind and have someone to talk to. Members also handed out fans, keychain flashlights and pens with the church's web address and phone number. The Men's Group took the opportunity to hand out smoke detectors that they had purchased to anyone who needed one. The church considers this to be an outreach opportunity. Fun was had by everyone involved and the event was considered a great success. To God be all the Glory!

                                    THE GIFT OF GENEROSITY-Electronic Giving

A definition of generous includes this phrase:
Freely sharing valuable things.   Freely sharing
. . .no strings attached. . .no tit for tat. . .nothing expected in return.   Valuable things: your child. What is more valuable than a life of someone you love beyond measure?   As we reflect on this message, remember Those Who Don't Yet Know Jesus.  Your continued support for the mission and ministry of the Southern District is requested.

If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings, we encourage you to look into our electronic online giving options.
