2023 AFO Scholars and Lillian Pitt at our Scholars Reception

AFO Scholarships support future design and building professionals and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to participate in the process of designing and building our world.


We currently have four open scholarship opportunities for students studying architecture or art in the state of Oregon.


Upcoming information session and application work session dates to be announced soon. Help us spread the word to students across the state!

Hatfield Architectural Award

$5,000 scholarship for undergraduate and graduate architecture students attending University of Oregon or Portland State University who express commitment to community service

William Hart Scholarship

$5,000 scholarship for BIPOC Graduate and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) students entering their last year at University of Oregon or Portland State University (graduating in 2025)

Tsagaglalal (She Who Watches) Scholarship

Renewable $10,000 scholarship for Native American, Alaskan Native, and Hawaiian Native non-graduating students pursuing a degree in Art or Architecture at Portland State University

PCC Architecture + Interior Design Scholarship

$5,000 scholarship for first generation students enrolled in Portland Community College's Architectural Design and Drafting or Interior Design degree program

The results are in: the 2023-24 Architects in Schools (AiS) program will serve over 150 classrooms across the state of Oregon, but we need your help to accomplish this!


We still have 26 schools in need of a design/building professional partner. Please consider volunteering and sharing your expertise with Oregon youth to ensure no students are left without free design education.

Deadline Extended: Pat Sanchez Women's Fellowship

Pat Sanchez and 2023 Pat Sanchez Women's Fellow, Diana Moosman

In partnership with Opsis Architecture, the Pat Sanchez Women’s Fellowship is an up to $3,000 award available to mid-career women in the architecture field, looking to expand upon their work and professional development.


Fellowship funds can be used to:

  • Attend professional conferences
  • Enroll in local college course work
  • Attend specialty seminars focused on various aspects of the industry including design, firm management, building enclosure design, business development, and leadership
  • And more!
