The Truth Is I Hear You

In the summer of 2016, The Cause Collective brought their Truth Booth , an inflatable video recording studio in the shape of a giant speech bubble, to tour several neighborhoods in Detroit and Flint. Come see the recordings from the tour presented as a 60-foot-wide video installation intended to expand our understanding of what our community defines as real, authentic, valuable or true.

Cranbrook Time Machine: Twentieth-Century Period Rooms

Drawing its inspiration from traditional museum period rooms, this exhibition reinvents that presentation model by featuring distinct spaces that examine key moments in Cranbrook's history. The evolution of the domestic landscape is chronicled by showcasing works from our collections.

Celebrating the generous spirit of our community, From the Vault features a selection of recent and promised gifts of art by important twentieth-century masters such as Richard Serra, Louise Nevelson, Anni Albers, Josef Albers, and Robert Rauschenberg, as well as work by acclaimed Cranbrook Academy of Art alumni including McArthur Binion, Sonya Clark, Charles Eames, and Eero Saarinen.

MEGALODON: Largest Shark that Ever Lived  CIS

Last chance to dive deep below the ocean's surface, and journey back 20 million years to witness the spectacle of MEGALODON: Largest Shark that Ever Lived. Examine  the evolution and misconceptions about this in enormous prehistoric predator in almost 5,000 square feet of fossils and interactive components through January 3, 2017.

Science programs for kids PreK - age 7. Join other families as we partake in a weekly investigation through the wonders of the natural world with hands-on activities across different disciplines. December topics are Mars, The Bat Zone, and Colors. Pre-registration required.

Discovery Center

Cranbrook's Family Discovery Center offers an exciting learning experience to feed the curiosity of intergenerational learners. Designed to inspire a love of science through adult/child interaction, the Discovery Center offers activities to stimulate young minds. 

World of Predators
Monday, December 26 - Friday, December 30 | 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Visit the institute during the holiday season and discover the greatest predators of all time. For starters, experience the most terrifying pair of giant land predators ever, T. rex and its Asian cousin, Tarbosaurus. You'll also encounter the sabre-tooth cat, Smilodon and the ferocious hell pig, Archaeotherium. Free with admission.
