Screen Free Holiday

We all can admit if being truthful that we all spend too much time on screens. Phone screens, computer screens, TV Screens, it all adds up, and it's’ just not us it’s our children. If you are a frequent MASK supporter you already know that the CDC recommends no more than two hours a day for children, less for children under 5. After reading that, how realistic is that when thinking how much you spend online and your child?

So what do we do? Instilling boundaries and conversation around usage will help alter the amount of time. Also by being creative and utilizing moments or seasons can help.

Taking a break from screens during the holidays can offer a range of benefits that enhance your overall experience. Use these upcoming months to start the track of tech-less time.

Here are some benefits for reducing use.

  1. Increased Connection: Spending time with family and friends without distractions fosters deeper conversations and connections.
  2. Mindful Moments:Engaging in present-moment activities, like cooking or playing games, encourages mindfulness and reduces stress.
  3. Creativity Boost: Screen-free activities like crafting, reading, or playing music can spark creativity and provide a refreshing change from digital media.
  4. Improved Sleep: Reducing screen time, especially before bed, can lead to better sleep quality, helping you feel more rested and energized.
  5. Physical Activity: Engaging in outdoor activities, such as hiking or playing sports, promotes physical health and well-being.
  6. Quality Family Time: Playing board games, doing puzzles, or taking walks together creates memorable experiences and strengthens family bonds.
  7. Reduced Eye Strain: Taking a break from screens can alleviate eye strain and headaches, leading to overall comfort.
  8. Nostalgia and Tradition: Embracing holiday traditions like storytelling, cooking, or decorating fosters a sense of nostalgia and continuity.
  9. Enhanced Focus: Being screen-free allows you to focus on tasks or hobbies without the temptation of distractions.
  10. Personal Growth: Engaging in reading, journaling, or other reflective activities can promote personal growth and self-discovery.

Embracing screen-free time during the holidays can lead to a more fulfilling and enriching experience, allowing you to savor the season fully!
