The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee will host its January networking meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th at Zoomers 17455 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908. This month’s topic will cover personal safety and awareness when in public locations.  

Attendees of the January WIB program will have the opportunity to learn from Peggy Lince, a Crime Prevention Specialist with the Lee County Sheriff's Office about what to do in an active shooter situation.

Each month, Women in Business features a non-profit spotlight and in January, AMIkids Southwest Florida will be highlighted. AMIkids is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping youth develop into responsible and productive citizens. AMIkids' mission is to protect public safety and positively impact as many youth as possible through the efforts of a diverse and innovative staff. AMIkids works in partnership with youth agencies, local communities and families. 

Admission for the January Women in Business meeting is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for future members, and includes one complimentary drink and light appetizers.

Be sure to stick around after the event program as Zoomers is generously offering a game card or go-kart wristband to Women in Business attendees!
The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee will host their annual Wine and Dessert Auction to benefit the Women in Business Scholarship Fund on Wednesday, February 5 at 4:00PM at Nemo’s Sports Bistro - HeadPinz Fort Myers 14513 Global Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33913.

Please help build our scholarship fund by donating:

• Desserts, dessert related, dessert wine, etc.
• Gift baskets, gift certificates, gift cards
• Pair a bottle of your favorite wine with gift certificate for services from your business

You can also support the cause by attending and bringing a friend. 

The Women in Business Scholarship Fund supports non-traditional students, demonstrating financial need, with preference given to single, divorced, or widowed individuals with children. 

Items may be delivered to the Greater Fort Myers Chamber office, 2310 Edwards Dr. in downtown Fort Myers, by 4:30pm on Friday, January 31. Captains For Clean Water , a grassroots nonprofit organization advocating for Florida’s water quality will host Leadership NEXT on Tuesday, January 14 from 5:00-7:00PM at Collaboratory, 2031 Jackson Street in Fort Myers.

Captains For Clean Water was founded in 2016 by a group of fishing guides and outdoorsmen from Fort Myers that had enough of Florida’s poor water management practices. Through advancing education, awareness and advocacy, Captains For Clean Water fights to ensure that policymakers implement scientifically supported solutions to restore and protect marine ecosystems and Florida’s way of life for future generations.

Participants at Leadership NEXT will learn about the future of our local waterways from Executive Director Capt. Daniel Andrews and Program Director Capt. Chris Wittman while touring Captains For Clean Water’s new office at Collaboratory. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided by Jordan Webster Catering.

Leadership NEXT's January program is sponsored by Offshore Sailing School , which will also offer a prize drawing to win a $300 sailing lesson gift certificate. Leadership NEXT’s annual sponsor is the Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon takes place on Thursday, January 16 from 11:30AM-1:15PM at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers. The guest speaker is John Talmage, Lee County Economic Development Director. The sponsor of the January luncheon is  Prima Luce , A MacFarlane Barney Company.

The First Annual Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Cornhole & Chili Competition takes place on Saturday, January 25 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at Hammond Stadium/Centurylink Sports Complex.

The Cornhole Competition is open to 32 teams, with single elimination and consolation rounds. Individual teams are $300 and include 2 players, 2 alternates, and 4 Festival of Beer tickets. Check-in for the Cornhole Competition is at 11:00AM. Corporate teams are $500 and include 2 players, 2 alternates, 4 Festival of Beer tickets, 1 lawn sign with logo, and 4 t-shirts.

The Chili Cook-Off will have 5 teams, with a minimum of 2 people and maximum of 4 people per team. Corporate teams are $500 and include tickets to the Festival of Beers, 1 lawn sign with logo, and 4 t-shirts. Individual teams are $200 and include Festival of Beers tickets. This event is presented in collaboration with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels , and participants and attendees of the Cornhole & Chili Competition will receive tickets for the 15th Annual Ballpark Festival of Beers, which runs from 2:00-6:00PM on the same afternoon in the stadium.

A $30 spectator ticket is available and includes the chili tasting, cornhole tournament, and Festival of Beers ticket.
