Exhibition: 2021 Arts & Design Faculty Exhibition

November 4 - 24 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The 43rd presentation of this exhibition showcases the talents of the Converse University Art and Design faculty. Previous exhibitions included such diverse media as printmaking, photography, sculpture, painting, drawing and ceramics. The art faculty comprises of individuals with backgrounds in studio art, interior design, art education and art therapy producing an exhibition that reflects a broad range of creative expression.

A reception will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the gallery. The exhibition is located in the Milliken Art Gallery and is free of charge.

2021 Converse Theatre and Dance Performances

Converse Theatre and Dance department will perform “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. These are ticketed events.

2021 Fall Wind Ensemble Concert

The Converse Wind Ensemble will present its fall concert on Thursday, November 4th at 7:30 pm in Twichell Auditorium. The concert is in collaboration with musicians from the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, and is free and open to the public.

Converse Symphony Orchestra with the Spartanburg Festival Chorus

Join us for a concert by the Converse Symphony Orchestra with the Spartanburg Festival Chorus as they present Felix Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion (Praise Zion). Originally composed to be performed in St. Martin’s Basilica in Liège, this concert will be at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg. Thursday, Nov. 11th at 7:30 pm, this event is free and open to the public.

Senior Recital: Ahdiayah Horton, Viola

The Petrie School of Music presents a senior recital by Ahdiayah Horton, Viola, with Julie Smith, piano. Sunday, November 7th. Featuring works by J.S. Bach, Louis Vierne, Henri Viuextemps, and Johannes Brahms. This event is free and open to the public.

Senior Honors recital by Ahdiayah Horton, viola, in collaboration with the Converse Trio

The Petrie School of Music presents a senior honors recital by Ahdiayah Horton, viola, in collaboration with professors Courtney LeBauer, Kathy Foster, and Steven Graff of the Converse Trio. They will present a performance of Lament for Two Violas by Frank Bridge and Piano Quartet in A minor by Gustav Mahler. This event is free and open to the public, and is also available by livestream here. 
Senior Recital: Chelsea J. Durrah, soprano

November 19 @ 7:30 pm FREE
The Petrie School of Music presents a senior recital by Chelsea J. Durrah, soprano with Julie Smith, piano and Tisha Kosmas, violin. Featuring works by Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Gustav Holst, Clara Edwards, and more. Friday, Nov. 19th at 7:30PM in Daniel Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public, and is also available by livestream here. 
2021 Festival of Lessons and Carols

December 2 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm FREE
The Spartanburg community is invited to join us to enjoy the annual Festival of Lessons and Carols in Twichell Auditorium.

Festival of Lessons and Carols celebrates the Christmas season with traditional carols and hymns, along with student-led scripture readings. Spartanburg Festival Chorus, Converse Wind Ensemble and Converse Chorale will perform these beloved, traditional songs between the readings. The audience will be invited to sing along in many segments of the service.

In addition to the two Christmas trees on Twichell stage, luminaries will line the front campus for the evening’s glow.
Funds collected from the sale of luminaries will be contributed to the Student Benevolence Fund. Luminary submissions received by Friday, November 12th will be recognized at the end of the program. To purchase a luminary, click here.
