Atlanta native Shanequa Gay will discuss her thought-provoking exhibition, Carefully Broken, Unfortunately Beautiful , which depicts southern life and black women. In this exhibition, Gay explores the historical and contemporary social concerns of black culture to teach lessons about morality, society, identity, and human function. The exhibition will run from October 4-25, 2018 and is free of charge.

Join Senior Theatre Majors for their Capstone production: a modern interpretation of Commedia dell’arte master Carlo Goldoni’s  The Servant of Two Masters . Updated and set in 1920s New Orleans during the most hopeful yet ultimately disappointing Mardi Gras to date, a Servant finds himself stuck serving two bosses without either having knowledge of the other. A wild comedy full of confusions, conundrums, and physical commedia, this production will highlight how finding joy and passion in everything can turn a bad situation into a work of art.

Hailed as a “deeply impressive pianist of tremendous flair and intellectual strength” and a “spectacular pianist” by Herald Scotland’s music critic Michael Tumelty, Mohamed Shams enjoys a varied musical life as a performer with a strong emphasis on chamber music, and neglected and rare composers of the Romantic period and 20th century music. This striking Egyptian pianist, and Fulbright recipient puts his musicianship and technical wizardry on full display with this recital of obscure music from the Romantic period and 20th century.
