President's Leadership Forum Presents Karen Popp Tonight

The Converse community is invited for a free professional development and networking event tonight at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Converse’s 4th annual President’s Leadership Forum will host international legal counsel, renowned prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, and former White House counsel Karen A. Popp for a presentation and fireside chat moderated by President Newkirk in Twichell Auditorium.

The event will be live-streamed and recorded via Zoom for those who wish to attend the event virtually. Attendance is free but reservations are required for both in-person and virtual attendance. To learn more, click here.

Young Women in Art 2021

Converse College’s Department of Art and Design is accepting entries for our 2021 Young Women in Art Juried Virtual Exhibition. This will be our final farewell to the annual YWIA event. We will be taking a break as we transition to Converse University and we will be back in 2022 with a new annual juried exhibition!

Visiting Writer: Geoff Herbach

Geoff Herbach is the author of nine novels, including most recently the YA novels Hooper and Cracking the Bell. His books have received the Cybil’s Award for best YA fiction, the Minnesota Book Award, Outstanding Book by a Wisconsin author and have been listed among the year’s best by many organizations, including the American Library Association and the American Booksellers Association.

In the past, Geoff wrote and performed comedy and traveled around the country telling weird stories in rock clubs. He lives in St. Peter, Minnesota. He is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Mankato State University and he is a core faculty member in YA fiction in the Converse Low Residency MFA.

EXHIBITION: Quilted Impressions

Quilted Impressions is an exhibit in the Milliken Art Gallery of quilts created by Columbia, SC artist Janet Swigler. Her process of cutting free-hand and working intuitively without the use of templates, honors the tradition of quilting and shows the versatility of the medium. Swigler has worked in this style for over five years while studying with Nancy Crow, a Renwick Alliance Master of the Medium.

Quilted Impressions will run from February 25-March 18, 2021. Swigler will present an online discussion and Gallery Talk in March.

The exhibition is located in the Milliken Art Gallery and is free of charge.
