What We're Reading

A man grasping his chin thoughtfully while holding Becoming a Son by David Labrava

Becoming a Son by David Labrava is a powerful memoir that delves deep into the author's life journey, highlighting his experiences within the motorcycle community and his role on Sons of Anarchy. Labrava's candid storytelling brings to life the struggles and victories that shaped his identity, offering readers a glimpse into the complexities of family, loyalty, and redemption. His reflections on the bonds formed in the motorcycle culture are both heartfelt and thought-provoking, revealing the transformative power of connection and understanding.

Labrava's writing is raw and honest, making it easy to relate to his challenges and victories. Whether you’re a fan of the show, a motorcycle enthusiast, or simply seeking an inspiring personal narrative, this book is a captivating read that resonates on many levels."

A smiling woman with blue hair holds Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

"As funny as it is insightful, Small Gods by Terry Pratchett is a wonderful fantasy novel, and an excellent place to start for anyone interested in his Discworld series. Though Pratchett’s main target of jabs and jibs is religion, a normally contentious and heated topic, he does so fairly from all sides, calling into question the spiritual as much as the atheist. This is further balanced by a loveable and kind main character who a reader can’t help but hope and cheer for, even in the face of extreme adversity.

Unlike many other books in the Discworld series, Small Gods is a one-off, not directly connecting to any others or having any sequels, all the while still exploring the absurd world so meticulously thrown together by Pratchett. Though it is not my favorite book by him, it is the one I would most recommend."
