Our very own Rev. Laurel has been serving with us here at St. Francis for the last six months as a Transitional Deacon, and in just a few weeks, she will be ordained a priest! The formal announcement is found below and all are welcome to attend to support Laurel on her ordination day.
God willing and the people consenting, The Right Reverend Diane Jardine Bruce, Bishop Suffragan , will ordain Laurel Eileen Coote to the Sacred Order of Priests in Christ's One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Your prayers and presence are requested. Valet parking available and a reception will follow.
On Sunday, January 13 th , Laurel will preside for the first time at both services. Let us join together to celebrate our newest priest. Reception to follow both services
Choir Section Leaders - Have you noticed?
Our choir has been enjoying the partnership of two new people--Lance Azusada and Nathan Remillard. These two young men are Choral Music Majors at USC. We were in need of some help in our tenor and bass sections, so we have created an internship with these two students. In the future you may see them conducting the choir on occasion, or possibly singing a solo (as they did Christmas Eve), and, most importantly, singing in the choir.
Would you Like to Contribute for Section Leaders?
St Francis has a history of hiring section leaders for the choir, but the current Music Budget does not have enough funds to use in that way. So several individuals have offered to give monthly contributions toward the stipends we are paying Lance and Nathan, for which we are very grateful. If you would like to help with this ministry, please consider either a one-time gift or a monthly gift to the Music Fund to help us continue to hire these fine musicians. They are helping us be stronger! Thanks! (Feel free to contact Jeannie Cobb with any questions.)
Thank you for Pledging!
Please continue turning in your pledges as soon as possible - it helps so much to plan ahead for 2019. Please consider pledging if you haven’t before and increasing your pledge if you are able. Let’s keep supporting the mission of St. Francis. Thanks to everyone for your generosity. Can't find your pledge form? Download one here...
Vestry Nomination Time
Please pray about nominating yourself or someone else to be on our Vestry, the governing board of our parish. We share in the mission and leadership of our parish through our variety of gifts. Please talk to one of the Vestry members or Paula+ about this rewarding service. (The Vestry meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and is a 3 year commitment. Election of 4 new Vestry members will take place at our January Annual Meeting.) Gratefully, Paula+
