September 2019
Student Ministries Newsletter
Hey!

I'm really excited about the event we have coming up in just 3 days- the Back to School Bash! This Sunday, September 8 from 5:00-7:00, Middle and High schoolers will be taking over the Crossroads Lawn for a bunch of fun games, grilled picnic foods, an ice cream sundae bar, and the pièce de résistance, a massive slip-n-slide down the hill! It's our best attempt to welcome in the school year without totally losing the joy and silliness of summer. Be sure to wear clothes that can get wet and pack a towel. This is a free event open to any students 6-12 grade, so invite a friend and register here.

Connection Events like this one are a great opportunity to meet new people, check out new programs, and make new memories. If your student is skeptical about trying a Sunday morning gathering or Small Group, Connection Events can help ease them in to Student Ministries programs by bringing a friend, having a parent volunteer, and/or just experiencing the energy of the group in a relaxed, happy, and welcoming way!

For me, fall doesn't come until I can wear sweaters and crunch leaves, so I'm holding onto the summertime spirit with an iron fist. Can't wait to see all the students there!

Serve with
Student Ministries:
Program Spotlight
There are many ways parents and adults can serve students in the Crossroads community! Through our Volunteer Page , you can express interest in repeated or one-time roles, behind the scenes or with the students, and visionary or boots-on-the-ground programming.
Every act of service is deeply valued, seen, and appreciated!

This week, we are highlighting serving as a Intersect Middle Guide with our Intersect Team and students 6-8th grade on Sunday mornings. One of our guides, and a parent of 10th and 8th graders, Steve shared this about his experience leading monthly:

"What I enjoy about leading Intersect is engaging the students and drawing out their thoughts and opinions. Some may be reserved in speaking. I hope by engaging the students, they see the group as a safe place to offer their thoughts without being judged.

My participation at church gives my children an example of how contributions of our time can benefit our community. I've told them that if each of use can volunteer or contribute our time and skills, it will make our World a better place to live."

Serve as an Intersect Middle Guide one Sunday a month- No biblical expertise needed! Materials and comprehensible curriculum provided with games, service project, centering time, and main teaching connected to the everyday life of a young teen. It doesn't have to be the same Sunday each month (ex. 2nd Sunday of the month), schedule requests are sent out halfway through the previous month.
