Join Our New Fall

Adult Bible Study This Weekend!

Parish Associate Bryan Mickle began a new Adult Bible Study last week, an in-depth study of the Gospel of Mark. There will be a special emphasis on Mark’s influence on the other synoptic gospels (Matthew and Luke), while also focusing on Mark’s “messianic secrets” scattered through the book. We will come away with a greater appreciation for this gospel, which became the central witness to the unique life and death of Jesus of Nazareth. The class will meet in the Parlor each Sunday at 9:30 over freshly brewed coffee and occasional treats.

Spiritual Small Group Beginning This Fall

In the midst of our very full lives, the nurturing of contemplative practices of shared listening and silence are a form of welcome sabbath/rest. If you are interested in developing or deepening your spiritual practice, please join Maggie Holmesheoran this fall for a peer spiritual direction group, following a model developed by the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation. This small group of friends will meet monthly on a weeknight for 2-3 hours to collectively listen and learn about each other’s journeys. Please reach out to Maggie directly at maggieoverseas@gmail.com if you are interested, or speak to her after worship this Sunday when she will share a Minute for Mission about this opportunity.

PC(USA) Peace & Global Witness Offering Will Be Received on World Communion Sunday, October 1

The Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice in our own communities and across the world.

25% of this Offering stays with our congregation to support our joint mission ministry. 25% goes to the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic to join with other congregations to support peacemaking work in our region. 50% supports the work being done by Presbyterians across the globe. We will receive this offering on October 1, World Communion Sunday, during our Joint Worship with First Presbyterian of Arlington. You may use the pew envelopes to make your gifts starting this weekend or visit our online giving page and select "Peace & Global Witness" from the fund selections.
