Music & Arts at Saint Luke's Hosts the University of Montevallo Kodály Institute

This week Music & Arts at Saint Luke’s hosts the University of Montevallo Kodály Institute , in residence July 9 to 20, welcoming 25+ Birmingham regional music teachers for Certification, Music Education and Teacher Training. Daily courses 8am to 5pm include participation of The Saint Luke’s Day School. 

The Kodály Method is among the most admired training systems for Music used today, particularly for singing, ear training, musicianship reading and writing of music skills and sequenced learning. In 2016 this method was inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is the only Kodály Certification program in Alabama and among those few in the Southeast.

Closing Concert & Skills Demonstration, Friday, July 20 at 2 pm in Graham Hall, open to the public.

Join us for ice cream and a movie (Peter Rabbit!) on Friday, July 20th at 6:30 pm! Bring chairs or blankets! The movie will take place in the Pavilion. In the event of rain, we will move to Graham Hall.
July Outreach Collection

Our outreach collection for July supports Greater Birmingham Ministries. We will be collecting peanut butter and jelly. These items can be dropped off in the bin in the Maloof entrance or in the Outreach Closet in Claypool Commons throughout the month of July.
