Rain note: In the event of rain on Sunday, August 16, those registered for the 10:00 a.m. Garden Service will continue at 10% capacity (50 people) in the Sanctuary (live) and 10% capacity (30 people) in the Refectory (simulcast).

Classic Car Carillon Concert!
Saturday, August 15 • 7:00 p.m.

Join us for a car-themed drive-in carillon concert with Kirk carillonneur Dennis Curry playing classic car tunes from the 1950s and 1960s geared for persons of all ages! This weekend would have been the annual Woodward Dream Cruise, so come in your classic car if you have one, though any vehicle or bicycle is welcome.
The Saturday carillon series has proven to be a very popular event; do invite your friends and neighbors to attend. Bring a picnic supper to enjoy at a safe distance either on your tailgate or on the lawn. For the safety and comfort of all, we ask everyone to please maintain social distancing.

Annette Wright will perform as our guest carillonneur. Pack some snacks, park in any of our lots, and listen from your car. Please help to make this a success by staying in your vehicle for the concert.

Pastor Nate and Pastor Fernando, along with Dustin McClellan from the Pontiac Community Foundation, announce the results of the medical debt campaign in the City of Pontiac.

Campaign to Eliminate Medical Debt
for the City of Pontiac

We have now exceeded our $28,000 goal for medical relief in the City of Pontiac! Thank you!

Thanks to our partnership with the Pontiac Community Foundation and their contribution of $14k toward our goal, we have now eliminated $2.8 million in medical debt in the City of Pontiac by working through RIP Medical Debt, reaching our goal of raising $28,000! For every $1 that you gave, $100 of medical debt was paid.

In honor of Pastor Fernando's compassion as our pastor for mission and community, Pastor Nate encourages the Kirk to contribute to a fund to eliminate medical debt for the city of Pontiac.

Worship at the Kirk

We continue to offer our Garden Service, and beginning on Sunday, August 23 we will add two other spaces at the Kirk—the Refectory and Sanctuary—for a simulcast via large screens with social distancing and limited capacity. This is a reservation-only worship service so that we can limit the number of people in each location.

You can choose to sit in the Garden for a live worship service, or in the Sanctuary or Refectory for a simulcast via large screens.

Advanced Registration is required; online and phone registration opens on Monday, August 17 at 9:00 a.m.

Hope Against Trafficking: Books Needed!

They are looking for used (or new!) copies of two specific books:
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Album and Becoming by Michelle Obama.
Please drop them off at the Kirk Welcome Center through the month of August on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or on Sundays at the Garden Service.
Lighthouse Food Ministry

Join Julie Walker to pack food boxes and/or deliver food for those dealing with food insecurity. Help is needed every Thursday during August between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Social distancing guidelines are in place, everyone is required to wear a mask, and no more than 6 people are in the packing area at one time.

Yoga By the Lake
Wednesdays

Back by popular demand! Class begins at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome—beginners and experienced! Bring a mat, blanket or towel, and a water bottle.

Each participant will select a socially distanced spot on the lawn in the garden behind the church. We are asking that a donation be made to our yoga instructors who are so graciously giving of their time to help them financially while their yoga studio is closed due to the pandemic. A donation basket will be made available.

Hope Against Trafficking: Virtual 5K
Heroes for Hope
September 5–7

Support survivors of human trafficking with Heroes for Hope Virtual 5K. Your registration provides survivors of human trafficking with life impact skills. 
If you register a group of 5 or more people, you have the option to put a team name, company name or family name on the back of the t-shirt. T-shirts and naming are only guaranteed if you register before this Monday, August 17.

Hope Against Trafficking is a 24-month residential program that provides restorative housing and comprehensive services focused on physical, mental, emotional and economic transformation for survivors of human trafficking.

On Sunday, September 27, we will walk to fight hunger both in our community and around the world.
