In addition, they are providing an additional matching gift of up to $2,000 for the bike rest. Matching funds from the parish or the community will qualify for the matching gift. Make sure any matching funds are identified as matching for the bike rest anonymous gift.
We are deeply grateful for this generous gift.

Last Sunday, we all enjoyed listening to Casey McKibben as he read the First Reading during the 10:00 am Church Service wearing his special kilt.
Did you know last Sunday, April 6th was Tartan Day?
You may ask: "What is Tartan Day"?
According to Casey McKibben, Tartan Day is the 1320 Scottish Declaration of Arbroath, a precursor of our 1776 Declaration of Independence? Did it influence our founders?
There is a great similarity in intent and content between the two declarations. Certainly, all Scots, particularly those who immigrated to America, held Arbroath dear.
| |
Tartan day celebrates the many contributions of Scots and Scottish Americans to the founding and subsequent development of our United States.
This is why I, Casey McKibben, a patriotic Scottish American, proudly wear my kilt on Tartan Day!
Now you know the rest of the story!

Earth Day Celebration!
| |
The Rev. Canon Eric Metoyer
Earth Day is April 22, 2025.
There are a variety of ways to celebrate Earth Day as people of faith who believe in our role, our responsibility in care of God’s Creation.
It is also, in the wisdom of the Church, the Tuesday of Easter Week, just after our joyous celebration of the Feast of the Resurrection.
This challenge of the calendar does not offer a choice of one or the other, rather, a chance to celebrate both! Recognizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ is affirmation of the life giving ‘Way of Love’ we accept as followers of Christ, and, our stewardship of creation is part of Christian faith lived loudly in the world around us.
Mark your calendars for a special screening of Gratitude Revealed!
Light lunch to follow.

Leaders in ministry at Christ Church (Vestry, Ministry Team Leaders, Staff, and anyone entrusted to work with or volunteer with children and youth or possess a key) are required to keep up with their Safe Church Training every 3 years. This requirement can be fulfilled one of two ways: a 3 hour in-person training offered twice a year or online modules assigned within a certain timeframe.
Christ Church has invited Caren Miles to offer an in-person training on campus on Sunday, May 4 from 11:30-2:30pm. Lunch will be provided. Sign-up with Jocelyn at jocelyn@ccpvw.org.
This training satisfies the required Safe Church training for those who need to maintain their 3 year certification.
If you cannot attend the in-person training on May 4, below are 2 other options in our Diocese.
- Sunday, April 6 – Noon to 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s, Burlingame
- Saturday, May 17 – 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – St. Paul’s, Walnut Creek
If you cannot attend any of the in-person sessions, Jocelyn will follow-up with your own series of customized online training modules to complete.

Being With Course
Being With is a transformative ten-week long invitation to discover faith in the context of discovering friendship. This series is based on the belief that Being With us is what God is all about, and that being with God, one another, ourselves, and creation, is the calling of our lives in turn.
Each class explores topics like essence, story, community, suffering and hope, while holding space for sharing and listening to one another’s stories. Christ Church Los Altos offered Being With for the first time in 2024 and had such a positive experience that they are offering it several times this year.
Members of Christ Church Portola Valley & Woodside are warmly invited to take part. A new cohort will begin meeting weekly via Zoom on Thursday, March 13th from 4pm - 5:30pm. We also plan to offer a summer cohort and another in the fall. If you're interested in participating, or in learning more, please email Rev. Claire
at claire@ccla.us.
| | Women's Spirituality Group | |
Women's Spirituality Group meets on Wednesday morning from 10:00 - 11:30 remotely, on Zoom. Contact Mary Jennings at emjennings@aol.com for more information.
This week we begin “How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith” by Episcopal Bishop Mariann Budde.

| | Support your Parish During this Lenten Season | |
During this Lenten season reflect on the blessing of our community and how we can support its continued vitality.
Giving alms is not a onetime event. It is a state of mind that see everything we have as GIFT from GOD. What we then give as alms is a small return of what God has blessed us with in this life. Take time over this journey of Lent to lift our heads and see whether there are things that come to light that need our attention and our money. When you do this the gift you make takes on much more significance because it came through the power of prayer and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Our goal is raising $300,000 to support our parish and its mission.
Given the size of our parish, this translates to an average of $5,000 per donor. We recognize that some can give more and others may give less, and that’s okay. Every gift, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated and makes a meaningful impact.
This year, we’ve made it even easier to pledge:
to let us know your pledge.
Let’s come together as a community to achieve this important goal.
With Gratitude for your Generosity and Support
