LOVE GOD. LOVE EVERYONE.

FROM THE RECTOR

Dear Beloved Members of St. Gregory's,

As we celebrate generosity on this Stewardship Sunday, our focus turns to you—the people of God and members of St. Gregory's—for making a difference. Your giving makes possible everything that God does through us at St. Gregory's. Your giving enables year-round worship and keeps the lamp of God burning bright and strong. Your giving enables children and young people to be formed by God's love in Jesus. Your giving enables college students and young adults to connect and explore how faith forms and transforms our lives. Your giving enables Wisdom classes and Bible studies to meet in-person and online as St. Gregory's expands from a regional church to one with a global reach.

Your giving enables members struggling with health and spiritual challenges to find compassion and healing through our Stephen Ministry and healing groups. Your giving enables those in need to be welcomed, nourished and supported materially and spiritually through our Meals with Meaning ministry.

Your giving enables music that touches souls and shapes hearts - a warmth that spills out into our larger community through the leadership of Timothy Brumfield, and the support of our talented choir members and instrumentalists.

Your giving enables children in Bondeau, Haiti to receive an education and clergy in Madagascar to be trained to serve the Church. This giving is not just financial giving the but the giving of our hearts and our best energies to share in God's dream of building a community of love centered in God in Christ Jesus glowing with the warmth of the Holy Spirit.

Last Sunday a family worshipped with us for the first time as we celebrated All Saints Sunday. What they discovered was a vibrant, joyous community of faith-- a community rooted, grounded, and growing in God's love in Jesus Christ. And they are coming back to join us on our journey of faith.

Thank you for making a difference!

In Christ,

The Rev. Andrew J. Sherman

Rector

COLLEEN WILLIAMSON

Colleen began her musical journey at the age of four, when after hearing her sister play a piece at the piano she then played it back by ear. Piano lessons started soon after, with Colleen needing to sit on a large phone book to reach the keys. With an emphasis in vocal performance, piano, and music theory, Colleen received her degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. After leaving DePauw, Colleen spent the next several years working at area civic and regional theatres, gaining valuable stage experience and fine tuning her craft. Her ability to flow easily from one style of music to another has allowed her to perform a wide variety of roles, including Sally Bowles in “Cabaret”Nellie Forbush in “South Pacific”Yum-Yum in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta “The Mikado,” and the gum-snapping Ginger in “The 1940s Radio Hour.” Known for her clear floating soprano voice, she can just as easily belt out a pop classic, allowing her to perform everything from Puccini to Aretha Franklin. A huge fan of the old MGM musicals, Colleen is most at home when performing the stunning music from that bygone era.

Perhaps award-winning Broadway personality Jim Brochu sums it up best by saying “It is an understatement to say that Colleen is one of the best singers I have ever heard. She is Ethel Merman, Ella Fitzgerald and Joan Sutherland all rolled into one extravagantly gifted, magical voice.”

ARELY CASTELLON COX

ON HOW ST. GREGORY'S IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Last Sunday, Arely Castellon Cox spoke on how St. Gregory's is Making a Difference in her life and the lives of her family members.

WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP?

Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of “tithing,” which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26). The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it’s also about contributing time and talents and volunteering for ministry and mission. It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY IS THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13

St. Gregory's kicked off Stewardship season with the theme of Making a Difference. During this time of reflection and giving, we ask that you prayerfully consider your pledge for the coming year. Your pledge will help St. Gregory's formulate our 2023 budget so we can meet our operating expenses, such as salaries, insurance, utilities, etc. They are essential to our mission and ministries. Your pledges are a loving response to a generous and loving God and demonstrate our commitment to Him and the Church.

Pledges will be turned in this Sunday - Stewardship Sunday, November 13.
