Having Nothing, Possessing Everything, Michael Mather
We invite you to a monthly conversation around a good book each month, on the third Sunday, at 4:30 PM in Trotter Chapel. We suggest that you read the book in advance if possible. Each month we'll read a different book.  This is the story of how one church found abundance in a community of material poverty. Viewing people-not programs, finances, or service models-as their most valuable resource moved church members beyond their own walls and out into the streets, where they discovered folks rich in strength, talents, determination, and love.

Seeking Volunteer
For many years First Church, along with most San Diego United Methodist churches, has had a representative attend meetings of the Joint Commission which is a ministry of the Cal-Pac Conference. The Joint Commission was established to help our Methodist brothers and sisters in Mexico with building and church structure needs, scholarships for seminary students, and ongoing ministries in Mexico. Now more than ever, our support is critical as many Methodist border churches are helping provide for needs of the many migrants coming to their doorstep. Currently First Church has no representative on the Joint Commission. Would you want to be that representative? Do you have a heart for our brothers and sisters south of the border? The Commission holds five meetings a year, three in Mexico and two in the United States. It's a chance to meet pastors from Mexico and learn about their struggles and victories. If you are interested or would like more information, please email Mary Beth Klauer.

OBOB UPDATE
Spring Cleaning and Inspiration
Several leaders from both campuses of our church benefited from the Cultivate Conference held in Normal Heights this weekend! We are grateful for the inspiration and practical best practices that we garnered as the Water's Edge Faith Community, seeking to live out our faith in our neighborhood of Ocean Beach. I also want to express gratitude to those who participated in the work day Saturday morning on the OB campus. Much was accomplished, especially organizing various spaces and working to make the youth room amazing and comfortable. Thank you to all who came!
Blessings, Pastor Jessica
