Inspired by the children of Israel wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and Jesus fasting in the desert for 40 days, Lent is a 40-ish day season of reflection, repentance, and reconciliation. Our Lenten series this year is “This We Believe: learning and living the sacred creeds of the church.” Each Sunday, we are exploring one of the creeds housed in the United Methodist Book of worship. We started our series with Creed 881 “The Apostles Creed”. This Sunday we explore Creed 883: “A Statement of Faith of the United Church of Canada”. Creeds help us have faithful Christian confession, familial Christian community, and fruitful Christian character. As we worship, may God help us learn the creed so that we can live the creed. May Christ help us learn the creed so that we can better love God, neighbor, and self. May the Spirit impart the creeds into our hearts, minds, and souls. Come, let us worship.

Our scripture this week comes from Philippians 3:17-4:1

A reminder: If your giving comes by check, please expect a slight delay in your bank account deduction. A growing number of tithes and offerings now come to us electronically, so our money counters only meet every other Monday to deposit cash and checks. Until then, all gifts wait patiently in our church safe.

Food Bank In Need of Donations

Cross Roads has supported Desert Mission Food Bank for years in order to be able to provide our community with the basic needs they deserve.

Below is a list of the donations that are acceptable. All donations should be unopened, labeled and in its original packaging. Heart-healthy foods that are low in sodium and fat are encouraged.

Whole wheat pasta
Whole grain cereal
Low sodium canned veggies
100% juice
Chicken and tune in water
Low sodium canned beans
Dry beans
Natural peanut butter
Bottled water
Hygiene products
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Baby formula (orange or blue Similac for ages 12 months and younger)

Donations can be made by placing items in the green grocery cart.
