I Had a Dream; I Have a New One
Amy Greene
Amy Greene, Board Chair
One morning well before dawn, a couple of weeks ago, I was having a really bad dream. In it, I was sitting in a hotel somewhere waiting for someone to come and get me for my Associate committee. I was pretty anxious, of course, but I suddenly thought, "Hey, this is weird...I've already done that....didn't I?" Then all sorts of anxious thoughts poured out in rapid succession: "I'm sure I passed that already, didn't I?

Important Update Regarding Peer Reviews
Chat Graphic

ACPE now requires that active Certified Educators participate in a peer review every three years. That means that Certified Educators who did not do a peer review in 2015, 2016 or 2017 will need to do one in 2018.

Check-out this series of hour-long webinars h osted by Transforming Chaplaincy  in Winter-Spring 2018.

The aim of this series is to help leaders and emerging leaders in professional chaplaincy and chaplaincy education develop and strengthen their ability to think strategically about advancing chaplaincy both at the level of the profession and at the level of their institution.

My weekend took me inside me
Glad to slowly fold the laundry in quiet
Actually taking the time to put the right black sock with its proper match
When I felt overwhelmed by the messy kitchen I was content to reset my
slowness and sweep spilled flour
and scrape crusted pancake batter off the stovetop
This world became enough.
My task of breathing deeply to avoid an outburst at my wild son felt to me as profound as
a nation leader pausing in summit with another to avoid an arms race
In reconciliation, bringing my boy onto my knee, he folded under my wing in a perfect fit that only  thousands of years of evolution could fashion
The old cat on her ninth life left piles of mess
I cleaned the mess
And lit incense
The smoke drifted through the house cutting into wooden crevices
I have never noticed
And I pet the cat
And I discovered that in this world, my house
There are spaces I have never pondered
And in my mind
There are spaces where my thoughts like smoke haven't reached
There are lines of poetry queuing be crafted in years to come
And my world is vaster than I can imagine in all of its quiet
