2027 Stewardship Campaign
The Gratitude and Generosity Team’s 2027 Stewardship Campaign - Together We Love, Together We Serve (inspired by Galatians 6: 9-10) - continues through Dedication Sunday, October 25, 2027. Each member (or member family) will receive a campaign letter along with a 2027 pledge card. You will also hear a weekly “Moment for Stewardship” featuring a diverse group of speakers.
The annual Stewardship Campaign provides the budgetary basis for supporting our many and varied mission commitments, while simultaneously funding our ongoing, day-to-day church operations (staff salaries / benefits, spiritual development, supplies, utilities, cleaning & security services, and congregational gatherings, etc.).
Through September 27, we have received $251,720 toward our 2027 pledge goal of $1,250,000. Confidential pledges may be submitted by mail to FPC-B’s Financial Administrator, Tori Stadler, or electronically through the “Pledge Online” application of the church website’s home page, or by utilizing the QR code below. Those who prefer may present an in-person pledge during worship on Dedication Sunday (October 27). Additional pledge cards are available in the narthex. We sincerely appreciate your generous commitment to the continuation of God’s work.

Online Giving Update
We have recently been made aware that the QR Code on the e-giving Offering Ritual Card does not work. We are in the process of getting these cards remade. You will notice in this Sunday's bulletin, a QR code has been inserted at the offering time for your online giving convenience. That QR code is below as well.
The church office is just beginning the process of converting our church management software to a new system. The "people" part of this software hopefully will be available soon. (See below) However, the financial part will take some time, and so we are waiting to remake the online giving Offering Ritual cards until that is in place, so that we won't have to do that twice!
Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

The Conversion to Realm Has Begun!
As noted in previous issues of the e-blast, FPC is converting to a new church management system - Realm. Our account has been converted from the previous system to Realm, and the staff is in the process of learning the system and all the possibilities that it will provide.
In mid-October, Tori, Dari, and John will travel to Tampa to participate in extensive training at at three-day event. Following that training, we will begin the process of rolling this out to the congregation. We will provide appropriate training opportunities as needed.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade from the previous system is the availability of an app for everyone to have access to their system - with the ability to update profiles, sign up for events, pay and keep up with pledges, and more!
We are excited about the possibilities of this new system and look forward to sharing it with the congregation.

Church Directory Coming soon!
The long-awaited, and greatly desired church pictorial directory is being compiled!
We are trying something new. We will be creating the pictorial directory in-house using the photographic talents of John Johnson and our new Realm database - with much assistance by wonderful office staff. This will be an opportunity to get your photo taken and update your personal information in the Realm database. This will allow us to have an updated printed directory as well as an updated online directory with only having to have one photo taken!
Please do your part by coming to the church to get your photograph taken! John Johnson will be taking photos on Sundays October 25, November 15 and November 22 before and after worship. He will be set up in the Witherspoon Room. Use the link below or scan the QR code on the graphic to make your appointment.

….From the FPC Lunch Bunch Book Club
Theo of Golden is one of those “sleeper” books. A first novel by author Alan Levi, it was self-published in 2023 with no marketing strategy. Its success came by word of mouth initially but what a success it was! After hundreds of thousands of copies were sold, publishing giant Simon and Schuster acquired the publishing rights and pushed it to the #1 spot on the New York Times Book Review where it stayed in the top 10 for over 40 weeks. Arguably a deeply spiritual book, it is a somewhat mystical story of giving and receiving, of seeing and being seen, of the power of generosity in both large and small ways, the importance of connection and “community” and the quiet miracles that happen when we choose kindness and wonder – the kind of miracles that can change the world.
It is the story of Theo, an 86 year old stranger who appears ‘out of the blue’ one day in the small town of Golden, and sets about changing the lives of people. As a result, he changes his own life. His story draws the reader into a tale that totally captures the reader from start to finish. The beginning of the story is somewhat shrouded in mystery and the ending of the story will simply upend what you think might be coming. The story in the middle is full of wonder, connection, hope and caring.
The thought-provoking questions Levi’s book brings to mind are the questions that drive an interesting book club discussion – “Are there angels among us?, Is ‘serendipity’ a real thing?, What is the wisdom in a face?, What is the value of personal stories?, Does the reward of ‘a gift’ go to the recipient or the giver?, Who is Theo?” These are all questions the Lunch Bunch group will be exploring when it meets on Tuesday, October 13, at 12 noon in Room 122. Join us for a lively discussion on this touching novel.

Furniture Ministry News
Thanks to all the volunteers who stayed late and worked beyond the call of duty so that nine families (which included ten children) were able to have beds and other pieces of furniture and household goods that hopefully made their lives a little more comfortable. The September workday was filled with service, ministry, hard work and fun social interaction. So mark your calendar for the next workday, October 24 and join us as we lead into our calling as a Matthew 25 church. We need your help. The warehouse can also use donations of kitchen tables, upholstered chairs, full mattress pads, dishes, mugs, and stainless.

Salem Presbyterian Women Fall Gathering
Our Presbyterian Women hosted the Fall Gathering of Salem Presbyterian Women last Saturday. Over 65 women attended, and the keynote speaker was Rev. Dr. Rhona Mawhood Lee who is the Rector at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. She is also the author of this year’s PW study book, “United in Christ, Bound to Each Other.” An offering was given to the Women’s Resource Center, and new leadership in Salem PW was installed.
A reminder that all women at First Presbyterian Church Burlington are invited to join one of our three circles: #1 which meets on the second Sunday night of the month, #2- second Monday morning and #4- the second Tuesday morning. What’s a circle, you may ask. It’s a chance for fellowship and Bible study for women in addition to Sunday School classes, book club and other ministries from our church. For more information, contact Karen Carrouth at karenguntercarrouth@gmailcom or call 336-214-3032.
