2027 Stewardship Campaign
The Gratitude and Generosity Team’s formal 2027 Stewardship Campaign - Together We Love, Together We Serve (inspired by Galatians 6: 9-10) - continues through Dedication Sunday, October 25, 2027. Each member (or member family) should have received a campaign letter together with a 2027 pledge card. Additional pledge cards are available in the narthex.
Through October 22, we have received $537,088 toward our 2027 pledge goal of $1,250,000. Confidential pledges may be submitted by mail to FPC-B’s Financial Administrator, Tori Stadler, or electronically through the “Pledge Online” application of the church website’s home page, or by utilizing the QR code below. Those who prefer may present an in-person pledge during worship on Dedication Sunday.
NOTE: As you begin to consider your calendar year-end giving, keep in mind that you may make gifts through donations of appreciated stock, and for those who qualify, you may utilize your IRA assets to make a Qualified Charitable Contribution (QCD), which might also help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). You are encouraged to seek advice from your financial planner as you ponder these decisions. We sincerely appreciate your generous commitment to the continuation of God’s work.

Online Giving Update
We have recently been made aware that the QR Code on the e-giving Offering Ritual Card does not work. We are in the process of getting these cards remade. You will notice in this Sunday's bulletin, a QR code has been inserted at the offering time for your online giving convenience. That QR code is below as well.
The church office is just beginning the process of converting our church management software to a new system. The "people" part of this software hopefully will be available soon. (See below) However, the financial part will take some time, and so we are waiting to remake the online giving Offering Ritual cards until that is in place, so that we won't have to do that twice!
Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

The Conversion to Realm Continues!
Dari, Tori, and John returned on Wednesday from an intense three-day training event as we continue the planning and preparation for our conversion to our new church management software. We are excited about the possibilities for better connections for our congregation, and for making the jobs of our office staff much easier and streamlined.
One aspect of this new product is the opportunity for each church member to download an app on their smartphone which will not only give access to the church directory, but also give members the options to update their own information, update their photos, and keep up with their pledges and giving.
John, Dari, and Tori learned a great deal at the training event, and we now have a handle on what we need to do as a staff to prepare for the roll-out to you, the congregation. There will be adequate training and help offered!
Stay tuned!

PW Memorial Service and Life Membership Ceremony - Monday, October 26, 2026
Everyone is invited to join us at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary for this heartfelt service to recognize the women who have passed in the last year. Their families have been invited, and Rev. Dari Rowen will offer scripture and comforting words. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend.
Also our Presbyterian Women will recognize two of their own with the PW Honorary Life Membership awards. The recipients, who are nominated because of the many ways they have served in the Presbyterian Church, have no idea, and it's always fun to look around and guess who will be named!
Following the service, everyone will gather in the Witherspoon Room for a potluck supper. Please bring a dish to share - you can even drop off your dish at the CDC entrance and then park your car.
We hope to see many of you for this meaningful service, delicious dinner and fun fellowship!

Taize Worship Opportunity
In following our mission statement, the youth are exploring different worship styles to deepen their understanding of what worship can look like. For the month of November, you are invited to join the youth group in an evening of Taizé worship.
Taizé is a monastic community in France with a distinct worship style. People around the world come to Taizé for the simplicity of living, connection with other spiritual seekers, and intense periods of prayer and devotion. Services occur three times a day, led by the brothers, denoted by simple meditative chants in a variety of languages and a period of silent prayer. Led by Eleanor Hill, church intern and youth advisor, we will be having our own Taizé service in the chapel on November 1st at 5 PM.
More information can be found about the community here, https://www.taize.fr/en/. For questions about the service, please email youth@fpcburlington.org.

Furniture Ministry Warehouse
Your help is needed!
Referrals to the Furniture Ministry are surging beyond our ability to serve on Monday afternoons. Many families are sleeping on the floor while they wait for our deliveries. Please come out for the workday and help us catch up!
If possible, let us know you are coming by emailing furnmin3@gmail.com or Nan Perkins at perkinsn@elon.edu. Let us know if you can bring a truck.
Or just show up! There will be heavy and light work to do-everyone is welcome!
Doughnuts and coffee will be ready by 8:45! Come and enjoy the fellowship and the good feelings that come from helping our neighbors in need.

Salty Saints Needed for Furniture Ministry Workday!
We are having our "sometimes monthly" catch up churchwide workday this Saturday beginning at 8:45. We have 6, possibly more deliveries to accomplish on Saturday. We will do our best to make sure all families will not be sleeping on the floor another night. We need your help!
We begin our Saturdays with doughnuts and a prayer. If you can only stay part of the time that is fine. If you can bring a truck we need that too! If possible, let furnmin3@gmail.com or Nan perkinsn@elon.ed know you are coming.
Kris helped so much last workday, thanks Kris! There may have been others, sorry if I missed you. Come join the fun, fellowship and the service TOGETHER this Saturday. It warms the heart!
Thanks for considering helping out!

Mission Yearbook: Professor says the church can’t be silent now
In our modern time, the church cannot be silent. But what should it say?
That was the question for Dr. William Yoo, Associate Professor of American Religious and Cultural History at Columbia Theological Seminary, who recently spoke at Montreat Conference Center. View Yoo’s chock-full presentation and the question-and-answer session that followed here.
The title of Yoo’s talk is based on something the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said at Montreat amidst the civil rights movement, on Aug. 21, 1965: “When a crisis emerges … the Church has a specific and great responsibility. It has a real responsibility in the midst of this crisis because the problems involved are essentially moral issues. The Church being the moral guardian of the community cannot overlook its moral responsibility at this hour.”
As a moral guardian, the church “is called to be an interpreter of politics rather than an agent of politics,” Yoo said.
Many people believe they are deeply engaged in politics, Eitan Hersh wrote in The Atlantic six years ago. But mostly, “they consume political information as a way of satisfying their own emotional and intellectual needs.
