NEWSLETTER DEADLINE   Monday, April 15. For information you like to be included in the May Footnotes, please email that to Stan Turnbull.
MAUNDY THURSDAY SUPPER & SERVICE April 18 at 6:00 p.m.  Please sign up for our traditional Foothills Maundy Thursday gathering.  Many of us think this evening is one of the highlights of the church year at Foothills.  It will take place in the Parish Hall with a light supper of bread, fruit and cheese.  This will be followed with a short service, called The Office of Tenebrae, in which candles are gradually extinguished while bible passages telling of the last hours of Jesus' life are read.  Everyone is invited but we need to know how many are coming. Please note if you prefer to sit at a table where wine is not served. Children are welcome; child-care will be available after supper, during the service. We hope you will plan to attend!
GOOD FRIDAY YOUTH GATHERING  is 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., April 19, in the Middle School Room. Talk to Rev. Melanie Weiner or Laurel Anderson for more information.

FLOWERING THE CROSS FOR EASTER  Please bring a few flowers from your spring garden next Sunday so the children can decorate the Easter cross in the courtyard.

APRIL 28 RUMMAGE SALE CELEBRATION Every one is invited to wear something you've bought at the past Rummage Sales. Doughnuts will be served at coffee time.
Sunday May 5, 2-4 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Husband and wife team Mark Hanson and Greta Pedersen are, respectively, a Grammy-Award winning acoustic guitarist, and a nationally award-winning vocalist. Together, their concerts are a memorial mix of playful jazz, Americana, originals, and eclectic pop highlighted by blazing fingerpicking and soulful vocals. They will be joined by the Bay Area fingerstyle guitar duo of Teja Gerkin and Doug Young, who weave together traditional Celtic, jazz standards and classical pieces. Don't miss this  special  event! There will be a goodwill donation of $20 at the door.
FELLOWSHIP AT THE BALL PARK Come out for a night of BBQ, Baseball and Fireworks at the San Jose Giants on Friday, May 17th. After gathering at 6:00pm at Turkey Mike's BBQ for supper, we will sit together in the Foothills reserved section to watch the San Jose Giants (SF Giants farm team) vanquish the Lake Elsinore Storm (SD Padres farm team). After the game we will watch a great fireworks show. Group tickets for BBQ and game are $27 adult, $16 child. Game only are $10 adult, $8 senior/child. Please sign up in the courtyard.

COME JOIN OUR SOUND TEAM!  Laurel Anderson, Nikki Hensley, John Reimann and John Lathrop are looking for another team member.  We rotate Sundays.  About one Sunday a month, you would operate the Sound System control panel.  That involves pushing buttons at the right time, and twisting knobs to Ride the Gain for each speaking person, so that they're loud enough to be understood but not too loud.  We train you along a very gentle learning curve.  If you would like to contribute to the church in this interesting and engaging way, talk to anyone in our group.
donations will be accepted gratefully throughout the month of April. Our congregation is joining with churches in eight other denominations throughout the United States to help provide funds for disaster relief, development assistance, safe refuge, and health and social services to our sisters and brothers throughout the world. Please read the literature in the pews and prayerfully consider what God calls us to share with others.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each Sunday. All youth in 6th-12th grades are encouraged to join in for conversation, games and snacks. Friends always welcome. Talk to Rev. Melanie Weiner.
BOOK GROUP meets the fourth Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The book for April's discussion is  The Library Book by Susan Orlean. Questions? Call Ann Nelson.

JOYFUL NOISE HANDBELL CHOIR. If you've ever thought about ringing with the bell choir, now would be a good time to stand up and be counted! You don't need to know anything about bells. Short-term commitments (a month at a time) welcome! If you're interested, talk with Gretchen or Fred. The bell choir rehearses most Wednesdays from 6:00until 7.30 in the meeting room.

FOOTHILLS' CHOIR NEEDS YOU!  To all the singers who don't read music, have plans Wednesday evenings or prefer to 'show up and sing'. We in the Easy Choir are looking for you!  We meet in the Sanctuary at 9:15 am every 1st Sunday of the month. Want to sing more
often? The Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary. Fred Cummins can help with rehearsal schedule and answer any questions.
