ASH WEDNESDAY. Get  your Ashes to Go between 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 at Shoup Park (at picnic table left of the Los Altos Garden House) and visit with Pastor Chris, receive a blessing and imposition of ashes (if desired). Ash Wednesday is a Christian tradition where ashes are placed on one's forehead as an affirmation of life; it's a reminder that we are mortal. Among the ancient Hebrews, and other Middle Eastern and Asian religious traditions, the wider use of ashes indicated mourning, humility, and repentance. Ash Wednesday is the start of the season of Lent leading up to the Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
