SUNDAY SERVICE WITH THE REV. CHRIS BREEDLOVE. Sermon Holy Spirit: The Consciousness of God. Scripture:  Luke 3:15-22. Music : Joyful  Noise Handbell

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM AND MUSIC.  Children and youth age 3 through 12th grade are invited to join their parents for the first part of worship and gather in the front of the Sanctuary for Children's time. Children and youth will then leave with their teachers for their age-based groups in the Learning Center. The program will end at 11:15 a.m. 
                  
ELEMENTARY CHOIR  (K through 5) rehearses from 11:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. in the Choir Room.

LINE DANCING with Richard Campbell is 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, in the Parish Community Hall. It is free to Foothills members. The class will start with some easy dances and the regular members will move on to the dances they already know. Great music, good workout will keep you high stepping into the New Year. Questions, talk to Virginia Greene.
 
CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Fay Oliver is 2:00 p.m. Saturda y, January 19, in the Sanctuary, followed by a reception in the Parish Community Hall.

OPEN FINANCE MEETING is next Sunday, January 20, immediately after the church service in the Parish Community Hall.  The proposed 2019 budget and Outreach information will be explained. This is a congregational meeting, we urge each member to plan to attend this important meeting.
 
                           UPCOMING EVENTS
 
FOOTHILLS' ANNUAL MEETING AND DINNER starts 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 in the Parish Community Hall. The theme this year is Live the Music in Your Soul.  We invite you to dress up and/or wear a hat reflecting your favorite musician, singer or group, or in clothing of your preferred genre of music or even the time period of the music you most love.  We will be serving roasted chicken, and beverages.   You are asked to bring:  a side dish, salad or dessert.  Business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Childcare for younger kids will be provided. Sign up in the Courtyard.

INTEREST GROUP FAIR SUNDAY  is February 10 in the Parish Community Hall after service. This is information for you and opportunities to join others in pursuing your interests. We have many groups that meet monthly within the church. We welcome  suggestions for establishing new interest groups. Questions? Talk to Judi Gentry.
 
                             ANNOUNCEMENT
 
CHILDCARE HELP WANTED.  Our nursery care providers serve on a rotating Sunday schedule depending on availability and will work for 2.5 to 3.5 hours each scheduled Sunday.      ONGOING PROGRAMS
 
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each Sunday. All youth in 6th-12th grades are encouraged to join in for conversation, games and snacks. Friends always welcome. Talk to Rev. Melanie Weiner.

LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY meets Mondays at 3:00 p.m. in the Maple Room. Revs. Melanie Weiner and Chris Breedlove facilitate the discussion, focusing on the scriptures that form the theme of the next Sunday's worship and sermon. New participants are always welcome. 

CREATING CARDS with Sandra Overton will resume meeting January 8, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. All are welcome. Talk to Sandra.

MEN'S BREAKFAST meets 8:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Original Pancake House on San Antonio Road. Contact Charlie Golden for more information.

KNITTING CIRCLE meets the second Wednesday between 1:00 -2:30 p.m. Come knit a prayer shawl, baby blanket or just your own project. Questions? Talk to Lisa DiTiberio.
 
BOOK GROUP meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room. Our next discussion will be on  An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. Questions? Contact Ann Nelson.
 
FOOTHILLS' CHOIR NEEDS YOU!  Can't attend Wednesday rehearsals? Don't read music? Sing with the easy choir! Just show up at 9:15 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month in the sanctuary.

TRUTHSEEKERS meets Thursdays  at 11:00 a.m. W e will study How Jesus Became God from The Great Courses, taught by Bart Ehrman, PhD, MDiv.  This course will explore scholarly and theological views of Jesus' identity.
