WHAT DOES LOVE LOOK LIKE?

Like this!

And this!

Thank you for showing us God’s Love, Mary Shahan!!!

AND LOVE CONTINUES

Who else would schedule an extra quilting day on their birthday? GLC's very own Cindy Kruckenberg, that's who! An extra day was needed in order to have enough backs sewn for quilters to tie during the next regularly scheduled quilting day. July 30th, her birthday, was the day that most volunteers could help.

GLC is blessed to have Cindy in our midst. She creates many opportunities for people to share God's love through Lutheran World Relief initiatives. These efforts provide help and hope to those in need throughout the world.

Happy Birthday, Cindy! And Thank You for all you do to help us all share God's love in our world!

GLC STAFF SCHEDULES

We want to make everyone aware of staff scheduling in the next few weeks. Sharon will be out of the office August 5th - 19th. Pastor Christian will be out of the office from August 10 - 19th.

During these absences, Bre will be available at GLC on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. She will also be checking the office emails and phone messages.

If you need assistance, Bre may be contacted directly through

email: bre@gilbertlutheran.org or by phone: (515) 520-0559

PERFECT GAMES TOMORROW!

Everyone is invited to an evening of community and connection tomorrow from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Perfect Games in Ames. The event is sponsored by the HAMO Foundation. HAMO stands for Henry Alan Munson Owen. Henry, the son of Susan Owen and the grandson of Alan Munson, died by suicide on September 17, 2020. The Foundation continues Henry’s legacy and also raises awareness and provides accessible tools around mental health.

Please see the information posted below. Most of all, please come!

Relatedly, while 300 means perfection in bowling, 988 means hope and help for mental health. Like 911, 988 is a free, confidential telephone lifeline available 24 hours a day. Individuals can call, text, or chat with trained counselors for support during a mental health crisis, emotional distress or whenever they simply need someone to talk to.

Follow the link below to learn more about 988, to explore ways to better understand mental illness and support mental health in our community and to recognize some of the common signs and symptoms of depression.

YOU ARE INVITED

Kirsten and Clay Cook are renewing their wedding vows!

You are invited to celebrate with them at Prairie Moon Winery on Saturday, August 22, at 8:00 p.m. Enjoy an evening of dancing, desserts, drinks, lawn and card games and more!

Kirsten and Clay (and Ledger and Cohen, too!) are so grateful for the family and friends who have walked alongside them through the years. Because Gilbert Lutheran Church has been such a meaningful part of their story, they would love to celebrate this special evening with you.

Again, you are invited. Please come and celebrate with them!

TOO HOT TO COOK?

Then head to Story City! Bethany Life is holding a drive thru meal fund raiser on August 7th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. All proceeds will go towards supporting resident care. See below for more information.

LWR SCHOOL KITS

One of the best things to see on Sunday mornings and all throughout the week, is people coming to church with school supplies. We are gathering these for LWR (Lutheran World Relief) neighbors. The list of items is printed below for in store shopping. For those who like to shop online, Amazon links to supplies are also below. Supplies may be brought to the Shalom Room.
