NO WEDNESDAY SERVICE TOMORROW

Due to a variety of scheduling conflicts, there will not be midweek worship tomorrow (May 28). Our Wednesday evening services will resume on June 4. Please note that these summer services begin at 6:30 p.m.

SUMMER COFFEE, CONVERSATION & COMMUNITY

We’re still looking for a few more people to host our summer Shalom Room fellowship before our service on July 20, July 27, August 17 and August 31. More details about hosting are printed on the reminder card to the left. For even more information, feel free to reach out to Sharon Popp at poppseg@gmail.com or (515) 351-8001.

WHAT A PURRFECT GIFT!

Our GLC Quilters met last Wednesday and presented a cat quilt to Pastor Christian. The surprise was actually some time in the making. Weeks ago, the ladies, knowing he loves cats, invited Christian to help tie this particular quilt. Then, when the quilts were displayed in the sanctuary, the cat quilt was placed on the front pew for him to sit and lean into. Finally, on their work day last week, the Quilters called him in to the Fellowship Hall under the auspices of “taking a picture” and proceeded to wrap him in comfort, warmth and love. The quilt went home that day and right away Christian and Karen’s cat Pojke found the warmth, comfort and love too. Pojke, pronounced “poika,” is the Swedish word for “boy.”

SEEING RED ON JUNE 8

On Sunday, June 8, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. The day is often thought of as “the birthday of the church” and recalls how the promised Holy Spirit descended upon the first followers. The Spirit looked like tongues of fire.

To commemorate those events and to remind us that the Holy Spirit is still among us, red balloons will decorate the sanctuary that day.

And, to make the day even more colorful and Spirit-full, you are invited to wear red!
