Family Folk Song Project
During the month of May, we will be doing a special project in music class called the “Family Folk Song Project”. All students in Grade 2 will participate in the project. In music class, we will be learning traditional folk songs from countries around the world. These are songs that your children can share with you at home. Ask your child to sing one of our songs with you at home. The project itself involves songs that the student families have learned in their homes. Parents will teach a song to their child. This is a song that the parent learned as a child. It can be a lullaby, a hand clapping game, a folk song, etc. The song can be sung in any language. In fact, we would love to hear songs in the native language of the family. After your child learns the song, he or she will sing it in music class. Students will be sharing their songs in music class during the week of May 21st-25th.  Look for information coming home with your student.
