The 2018 Gates Fun Run!

We are excited to bring back the Gates Fun Run in 2018. Having this event means there will be NO auction this year. As our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Gates Fun Run kicks off with a Pep Rally on 10/10/18 and ends with a walk/run on 10/19/18. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps (30-35) your students will run, walk, skip, or even dance on the day of the Gates Fun Run. This year students will learn about MindSpark—a mystery theme combining S.T.E.A.M. skills (Science, Technology️, Engineering, Arts, & Math) with character building.

Powered by the experts at Boosterthon, we are hoping to raise $30,000 for Gates School. So please help our school by reaching out to your friends and relatives for support. Families are welcome to come out and cheer on your student the actual day of the run. More details to come in the weeks ahead!

Gates Fun Run T-Shirts
Last week your child should have brought home a Fun Run T-Shirt order form.  We are asking parents to fill out the form and submit $6 payment by Monday September 17th . Please use the link for the order form if you did not see it come home. Please e-mail Molly Wald with questions.

Hello from the Health Office!
Welcome back from summer break and an equally warm welcome to those of you who've newly enrolled at our school !

We have a few reminders from the Health Office.

  • Please be sure that your contact information in the Parent Portal- (aka Power School)- is current and includes phone numbers and email addresses that you use on a regular basis.

  • Please update the Health Office about any new health conditions so we may have all the information needed to keep your children safe at school.

  • If your child has a medical concern that requires medication at school- (for example, an epi pen, inhaler or other medication)- remember that medication orders from the doctor need to be rewritten every school year. If you haven't gotten a new medication order, please contact your doctor ASAP. Orders may be dropped off, emailed directly to us from the doctor's office or faxed to us. The Gates fax is  978-266-2573.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Music Notes from Mrs. Ward

Music Enrichment Period

This is an exciting new opportunity at the Gates School. Every Thursday (beginning September 20) from 8:50 to 9:45, all students in Grades 5 and 6 will be able to choose to attend Band, Orchestra or Chorus.
The Orchestra will meet in the library with Mrs. Greene. The Band will meet in the cafeteria with our new band director, Mr. Mohar. The Chorus will meet in the music room with Mrs. Ward.
If you are interested in joining Band or Orchestra, you will register through the Acton-Boxborough Community Education website. If you are planning to be a part of the Grade 5 and 6 Chorus, you do NOT need to sign up.
Here is a link to a cool video that you can watch about the Acton-Boxborough String and Band program .

Gates School Chorus

This is a DIFFERENT group from the one mentioned above. It is the SAME chorus that I have been directing at the Gates School for many years. All students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 are invited to join us. We will meet on Wednesday mornings before school, 7:45 to 8:45 in the music room. To join this chorus, you will register through the Acton-Boxborough Community Education Website. Click here to go directly to the registration.
The Gates School Chorus is an opportunity for the Grade 4 students to participate in Chorus. And, it is a chance for band and orchestra students to have a chorus experience.
Our first rehearsal will be Wednesday, September 12 at 7:45am.

You can send me an email if you have any questions. I am sooooo excited for our new music year together!!!
