The Scholastic Book Fair is Here!

For this week only the Gates Library will be transformed into a Bookstore. All parents, neighbors, and book lovers are welcome to stop by and purchase books. Students will visit the fair with their class this week, so check out the 2017 Scholastic Book Fair Schedule for classroom visit times and openings. In addition to purchasing books for themselves, students can also purchase and donate books for their classroom. All money raised go towards funding the Author Visit program at Gates.

We still need parent volunteers during classroom visits to assist students with selecting books, making wish lists, as well as bringing coins from the coin drive to the bank. Please consider helping and sign up for a time slot that works for you.

If you can't make it in during the day, the Scholastic Book Fair will also be open during Back to School Nights on 09/26/17 and 09/27/17. Hope to see you there!

Just a Few Days Left for the Coin Drive

The All 4 Books Coin Drive ends on 09/27/17, so please help us collect spare change during these last remaining days. All money raised goes towards purchasing more books for our school and Scholastic Books will donate one book for each dollar raised to help children and families in need. Scholastic Books will be donating books to the communities affected by flooding and hurricanes. Coin collection jugs are located in your child's classroom. All money collected will be combined and divided between the teachers at Gates.

The two classes that raise the most money will get a selection of bonus books for their classroom. Last year we raised just over $800, help us beat that goal this year!  All that spare change really adds up.

The Gates Fun Run is Less Than a Month Away

Do you want to get a first hand look at what a typical Fun Run is all about? Then check out the Boosterthon Fun Run Overview video. Doesn't this look like fun? Kids will be laughing, skipping, dancing, walking, and running their way around a track-all while earning money for their school. Students will also engage in Castle Quest - an English castle themed program designed to help kids learn about: Focus, Self-Awareness, Respect, Trustworthiness, Creativity, and how to be a Life-learner.

As our biggest fundraiser of the year, we are hoping to raise $20,000 for Gates School. So please help our school by reaching out to your friends and relatives for support when pledging begins on 10/11/17. All families are welcome to come out and cheer on your child the actual day of the run on 10/20/17. Check out the Gates Fun Run website to learn more.
