Looking for parent volunteers to join the School Council.
The Gates School Council is comprised of parents, teachers and community members. What are the main areas of responsibility for school councils?

The law outlines four major areas of responsibility for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:
  • Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
  • Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
  • Reviewing the annual school building budget
  • Formulating a school improvement plan

The Gates School Council will be meeting the last Monday of the month in the morning from 7:45 - 8:30.

Please email Lynne Newman if you are interested in joining the School Council by Oct 3rd.
The Gates Fun Run is Coming!

To give your child the best educational experience possible, we're raising funds for our school and we're hosting the Gates Fun Run to make this happen. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student will run on the day of the Fun Run on 10/19/18. Our program will be kicking off with a pep rally on 10/10/18. Leading up to the Gates Fun Run, students will learn S.T.E.A.M. skills through an educational character program called MindSpark Mystery Lab . You can help our school by following these four easy steps:

1. Register on f on pep rally day 10/10/18.

2. Connect to sponsors—friends and family who can donate to help our school.

3. As you make your pledges, you will be able to pay for your pledge right on .

4.Cheer on your child the day of the Gates Fun Run 10/19/18.

Be on the lookout for this Pledge Book, more details are coming soon!
Hello from the Health Office!

We have started our state mandated health screenings and will be continuing them through the Fall. These include Hearing and Vision (grades 1-5) and Height and Weight (grades 1 and 4). If a referral is needed, we will contact families and send a referral letter home in the student's backpack. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Make a Plan
With the recent hurricane and natural gas incidents, it's a good time to  review or create preparedness plans with your family. These should include plans for shelter, evacuation and communication.    For more information please go to the Make a Plan website.

  Warm regards,
Diane Spring RN and Victoria Reierson RN   🍁🍂🍁

Get ready to capture your family's memories for a lifetime in a way that’s fun, convenient and benefits our school.

Come have your family photos taken at Acton Arboretum (Location May Change Due to Lighting and Weather) on Saturday, Oct 20th from the hours 9 am - 2 pm.
LOCAL Professional Photographer: Jan Couch

The cost of this fundraiser is $48. Our school receives $30 for each photo session. This fee includes a 15 minute photo session and Jan will turn your favorite pose into a beautiful 8x10 family portrait.

Are you new to Gates? Need more information?? Our school has run this fundraiser for quite a few years now. Jan Couch is the local photographer who will be assisting us with raising money for our school. She is a phenomenal photographer who is donating her time and experience to provide us professional family photos at a HUGE discount price. All you need to do is request an appointment time on Saturday. Once you receive confirmation of the appointment, you need to send in a check to the school office. On the date of the appointment, you come to the location and check in with a parent volunteer . Once Jan is ready for you, you will receive a 15-20 minute sitting session. I will provide you a password for the website. When you receive an email stating your proofs are ready, you will be able to review all proofs online with your assigned password. You will then be able to choose your favorite photo and pick your 8x10 photo for print. If you are interested in additional digital images, you can place the order on Jan's website and she will forward them to you, after payment.

The 8x10 will be printed and available for pick up at Gates School. Date TBD

There’s no easier or more affordable way to get quality, professional family portraits.

It's fun and easy... plus, it benefits your school too!
