New Horizons: Giving to Grace in 2017
Yesterday I completed the online pledge form on the Grace website. It was  ea sy and quick since I had already prayed and calculated my annual pledge amount.

I am thankful for the Grace community, and look forward to where the Holy Spirit will lead us in 2017.

 In Christ,

 Amity+

Adult Forum: Kindness and Gratitude
Join Wendy Manning this Sunday for a discussion about the relationship between kindness and gratitude. Both words can be considered whimpy, impotent or nice to have but not necessary to a spiritual life. They can also seem unattainable or unsustainable. Come talk about how to use these words as an engine for movement away from life's pain and toward more pleasure.

Chicago 2016 Diocesan Convention
The 179th convention of the Diocese of Chicago gathers in Lombard this Friday and Saturday. Shawna Attaberry, Andrea Billhardt and Kim Callis, along with Pastor Amity, are representing Grace. Please keep the gathering in your prayers as we discuss the business of the church.

All are invited to a festive Thanksgiving Eve celebration on Wednesday, November 23 at 6: 30pm. We will worship then feast with our partner church, Holy Trinity Lutheran. Ready to Harmonize Beloved Carols? Join the Grace Christmas Choir!
Music Director Aaron Benham is looking to assemble a Christmas Choir for this year's Christmas Eve service.  The group will sing the hymns from the standard repertoire, and rehearsals will be determined based on the group's availability.  Please email  Aaron or Pastor Amity if you are interested.

Soul Scarves
'Tis the season for Soul Scarves! Once again, Grace Place invites knitters, crochet-ers, and crafters to create/donate warm scarves (hats and gloves, too) to offer to guests at the weekly community breakfast. Plain colors and simple patterns are usually best. Please bring your creations to Grace Place before  December 1. Questions? Email  [email protected].

Plan Now to Attend Men's Pre-Lenten Retreat
The Episcopal Men's Pre-Lenten retreat, Walking in the Way: Making our Own Pilgrimages through Everyday Life, will be held at the Dekoven Center in Racine, Wisc. on Feb. 10-11, 2017. The Rev. Gary B. Manning will lead the retreat. This retreat promises a rich time of important thoughts and messages, alongside opportunities to participate in small- and large-group discussions on issues that are critical to men like us, in our lives and in our faith.  A flyer with retreat details and a registration form can be found by clicking here .

Hospitality Highlight at Grace Place -- Post-Election Edition
After enduring a contentious and divisive election, with a result that devastated many, gathering for prayer and solace was never more needed. Grace was one of many places of worship throughout Chicagoland and across the country that opened their doors for folks to gather and seek comfort and solace. ABC Channel 7 captured footage of Grace's Poetry as Prayer event that took place the night after the election. Watch the story here.
