Making Memories

ON OUR TOES ON ADMIRALS' ROW

Last week, the Capital Campaign team connected with the great grandchildren of Rear Admiral Robert M. Doyle, who in the early 1900’s moved to Coconut Grove with his wife Kate and built the lovely home we now call Pilgrim House. Pam Woll is one of the Rear Admiral’s two living great grandchildren, along with her brother, Bob Prevatt. Pam recalls the irony of her twirling on her toes in Pilgrim House in the late 1950’s—not knowing the house was built by her great grandfather, RDML Doyle. Pam, top photo far right, sent these pictures of young girls “from all over Miami” who came to Plymouth’s Pilgrim House and waited on the lawn for Miss Ilonka, a well-known teacher, to call them in for ballet and lessons in manners. Let us know if you recognize any of the other “ballerinas.” Next week, we’ll share more stories about RDML Doyle whose purchase of land from Plymouth helped finance the building of our sanctuary in 1917. Please share your memories, old or new, at [email protected]

Summer Choir, All are Invited

Please consider serving as a Plymouth Hurricane Helper in your neighborhood. If you want to more about how to help, email [email protected].
