Prof. Baradaran was quoted on the flaws of the PPP loan program ( Inc. ) and her book “The Color of Money” was cited for its explanation of black-owned businesses’ difficulties accessing government funds ( Vox ). Prof. Goodwin discussed the disparate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color as the moderator of a call hosted by the American Constitution Society . The Fair Elections During a Crisis report produced by the Ad Hoc Committee for 2020 Election Fairness and Legitimacy (led by Prof. Hasen ) was highlighted for its recommendations on election night reporting ( New Yorker and Huff Post ). Prof. Hasen also was quoted on vote-by-mail and challenges with implementing major changes to election systems ( New York Review , New York Times Magazine , ABC News and AP ). He also participated in a panel discussion on election safety and what states and federal government can do to move elections forward ( University of Denver Center on American Politics ). Hueston Hennigan was highlighted by Law 360 for donating $25,000 toward UCI Law’s COVID-19 emergency relief fund. Prof. Kaye wrote a piece on the Facebook Oversight Board and the self-regulation of social media companies ( Just Security ) and was quoted on its efficacy in Reuters and The Verge . His remarks on technology and human rights at the Human Rights and Digital Technologies Symposium were highlighted by the National Academies . Prof. Marian commented on Cirque du Soleil's Luxembourg tax structure ( La Presse ). Prof. Ramirez Almadani commented on the Supreme Court DACA case ( Orange County Register ). Dean Richardson joined more than 50 deans to ask New York and Massachusetts not to discriminate against graduates of out-of-state law schools in sitting for the bar exam. She also participated in a panel discussion on how COVID-19 has impacted law school and legal education ( OC Bar Association ). Prof. Simons participated in a discussion on Tentative Draft No. 5 (2020) of Restatement of the Law Third, Torts: Intentional Torts to Person ( American Law Institute ). Prof. Whytock commented on lawsuits against China over COVID-19 ( Bloomberg Businessweek ) and was quoted on UCI Law's upcoming virtual swearing-in ceremony ( Daily Journal* subscription required ). He also participated in a discussion on Tentative Draft No. 1 (2020) of Restatement of the Law Third, Conflict of Laws ( American Law Institute ).

Emily Croucher ‘20 co-wrote an op-ed calling for emergency diploma privilege ( The Appeal ). Emily Genzlinger ’20 was selected for a 2020 Equal Justice Works Regional Public Interest Award ( UCI Law ). Fernando Nunez '19 was recently named a Shriver Center Racial Justice Institute Fellow. Diana Palacios '12 was named among the Most Influential Women Attorneys in Los Angeles by the L.A. Business Journal .
