Student Loan Debt Roadblock to Homeownership
 
More kids are going to college today than ever before. From an academic perspective, that's a great thing. From a real estate perspective, it's a cause for concern because of debt they face after they graduate, and how it impedes their ability to buy a home for the first time. According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) 2018 Profile of Homebuyers and Sellers, the share of first-time home buyers fell for the third straight year to 33 percent.

Existing-Home Sales Keep Up Momentum in November
 
Existing-home sales kept up momentum in November, climbing 1.9 percent to 5.32 million, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) reports. On an annual basis, however, sales were sluggish: 7 percent lower than in November 2017. In an improvement, inventory rose to 1.74 million year-over-year, according to NAR; last November, inventory totaled 1.67 million.

Canadian Investors Continue To Dominate Cross-Border Investments In U.S. Property Markets
 
Though cross-border investment in U.S. commercial real estate has tapered off since 2015, renewed interest from foreign buyers reversed course in the third quarter, with Canadian investors leading the charge. Cross-border investment increased 61% to $62B in Q3, the highest amount recorded since Q3 2015, according to Cushman & Wakefield's Q3 Capital Markets report.
