Love in Action:
Supporting our Neighbors at Arcola Elementary

For many years Christ Church has had a partnership with Arcola Elementary School in Wheaton. Many of the families are struggling now. Our liaison, Community School Coordinator Indra Martinez, indicates that while Montgomery County is providing meals for the children for pick up, parents really need help with other non-food essentials.

Click here to read the List of Needed Items - and the number of families who need them - in the Linkages to Learning program.
It gives you an idea of the needs.

Here's the plan.

Option 1 : C lick here to go to their Amazon Wish List ("CCK supplies for LTL"). If you order from this list, supplies will be shipped directly to Linkages staff who will distribute them to families in need. A lot of items may be sold out or have ship dates that are well past April 17th. These are just suggestions. People are encouraged to buy other similar items, or things of the type that appear on the Linkages list mentioned above. The Wish List will be updated as new needs are identified.

If you want to purchase something not through Amazon, here are other options for helping:

Option 2: Order an item on the List of Needed Items and have it delivered to:

 Liz Quinn
3303 Geiger Ave
Kensington, MD 20895-1804

Option 3: Purchase items and drop them off at the Quinn's home. There is a box on their porch.

As items are collected, they will be delivered to Arcola. Families who need them will pick them up there, or in some cases, Staff will deliver them.

Again, needs may change over time and our contacts at Arcola will let us know.
Thank you so very much!

Join Us! A message from Miss Ann

"Zoom" on Over to Children's Chapel, Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Ann Enkiri invites families with children to join together for Zoom Children's Chapel, this Sunday, the Fifth Sunday of Lent at 9:30 a.m.  We will greet one another and share Sunday's Gospel, John 11:1-44, the Raising of Lazarus. This story speaks to the anxiety and grief we all may experience, including Jesus who wept at the death of his dear friend. Always, Jesus calls us out of darkness and to new life.

It will be so wonderful to see one another! Check your emails for Children's Worship Bulletins and other resources.

Thank you for letting your love shine!

Worship during the week

Each Wednesday join us for our 6:30pm Service of Evening Prayer, live on Zoom.

All Zoom services will use Meeting ID# 626-256-7637 with the exception of Children's gatherings.

Note: From the survey in the past two e-blasts, you let us know that you would feel fed by worship available at 10:00 a.m. from CC, links to the Cathedral services or other special Diocesan worship, and at 5:00 p.m. with the CC community. Many also would welcome a service of compline, prayers at the end of the day. See options above for Sunday and below for sung compline. And stay tuned for plans for Holy Week & Easter!
A Gift from Christine Castillo

Dear All,

In an effort to bring some sanity to the chaos surrounding us, I turn to music. I am working on a project, recording and uploading a hymn a week that I hope will bring comfort, happiness, and/or healing to you. My hope is that you will listen, ingest and perhaps use for your daily worship.

Here is the link to the YouTube page where I will upload a new hymn every week, so you can always go back and listen to your favorites or all the hymns any time you wish:

Thank you, Christine!!!
Looking Ahead...
In order to serve you better, the Christ Church Vestry has broken into three leadership groups for the next two months of our collective lives:

  • Pastoral Care & Care of Neighbors: Making sure we are touching base with all members of the congregation and reaching out to the wider community.
  • Worship: Coordinating our virtual services and other worship resources.
  • Admin: Ensuring the necessary business of CECK continues to run smoothly.
Introducing Jen Luna!

Jennifer Luna is excited to be joining the team at Christ Episcopal Church Kensington and bringing her many years of experience in administration and management to the Parish Administrator role. Her background has been varied, including work in the healthcare and library science fields. Most recently she served for over 8 years as the Director of Human Resources at Imagination Stage, and she looks forward to drawing on that experience in the non-profit world in her work in this new role.

Jen is no stranger to Christ Church – she was a congregant here for a number of years, and she was married in this church in 1993, the same year that she was confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Currently Jen attends St. Luke’s, where she serves on the Vestry.

Born in Nashville, Jen has lived in the DC area for most of her life, moving to DC at the age of 2 and then growing up in Garrett Park and attending MCPS schools. She has a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MA from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to her husband of 26 years, Jen’s family includes two teenage daughters and two crazy pugs.

She began with us on Tuesday, March 24, at the church and of course remotely. You can welcome her at administrator@ccpk.org .
Ways To Give While We Are Apart

A number of you have asked for guidance on how to give remotely during this time. There are several different options for you make contributions and help Christ Church to maintain financial health.
