School Supply Drive for People Serving People
August 2–30 in the East Entry

Help send kids to school with a full pack of supplies by contributing to the People Serving People (PSP) school supply drive! PSP helps children and families experiencing homelessness manage crisis situations and build a strong foundation for their long-term success.

Please bring supplies to the East Entry at Hennepin Avenue UMC between August 2 and 30.

Copper Street Brass: That '70s Show
Thursday, July 29 at 7pm

You are invited to a FREE outdoor concert Thursday, July 29 at 7pm – this is the final concert of our summer series! Copper Street brass will be performing '70s music from three centuries–the 1770's, 1870's, and 1970's–with their signature arrangements and virtuosic performance.

From the big wigs of Mozart and Haydn to the big hair of Led Zeppelin and STYX, music from the 1970's is covered in a whole new way! “That ‘70s Show” features unique takes on music from classical to opera, folk to jazz, pop to rock ‘n roll, and yes, even disco! Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind tribute to the tunes of the ‘70s!

Local Justice Mission for Youth:
Serve MSP Day Camp
August 3-5, 2021

It's your last chance to sign up for the Local Justice Mission Trip, Serve MSP (next week)!

Serve MSP is a day camp for youth in grades 7–12. Youth will volunteer with service partners supporting and advocating for people in need throughout the Twin Cities area. Each day, youth will hear from community speakers and leaders about topics rooted in social justice. Together, we'll also unpack scripture and stories related to these topics.

Each day, participants will gather at locations in the Twin Cities. August 2 is our Zoom Kickoff Event and closing worship service will be held on August 5.

$40/student (includes a t-shirt) *scholarships are available*.

Heather Alden and Rick Belbutoski are returning to Facebook Live for a monthly series of conversations this summer. These discussions will cover a variety of topics important to anyone who plays a supporting role in the life of a youth.

Enjoy a live presentation of the classic "On Golden Pond" for FREE. In response to Hennepin Avenue UMC providing rehearsal space, the Long Lake Theatre Group will present their dress rehearsal of the drama On Golden Pond, Thursday, August 26 in the Church of Youth (lower level of the church) at 6:30pm. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Wednesdays–Sundays, 11am–5pm
Summer is here and we are ready to make it even easier to drop off donations at Old School by Steeple People! We will be accepting donations every day we are open, Wednesday through Sunday between the hours of 11 am–5 pm!

We would still like folks to keep their donations to 3-4 bags or boxes per drop-off, if possible. If you have a larger donation, or a whole carload of donations to drop off, please call the store at 612-871-8305 to schedule a time to bring in your donations.
