The Foundation for ACPE Innovative Program Awards in collaboration with the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab is pleased to offer one of the funding opportunities. Funded by gifts to the Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign, Innovative Program Awards provide funding support for projects that extend CPE and spiritual care education into new contexts. As the Covid-19 pandemic has brought many challenges to ACPE members and programs, the Foundation for ACPE will partner with the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab to provide resources to chaplains and ACPE educators who are partnering with an administrator (staff member outside of their chaplaincy departments) at their organizations to extend the work on the frontlines of COVID-19, especially the needs of the most impacted.
The Foundation for ACPE will contribute an additional $21,000 to the funds generously granted by the Henry Luce Foundation. The Foundation for ACPE funding is designated for projects that align with the stated criteria, and specifically address this need in the contexts of ACPE programs. Projects that address social inequalities around or related to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are strongly encouraged.
The deadline to submit your applications is November 15, 2020.

In May 2019, the ACPE Board of Directors initiated the formation of the Anti-Bias Task Force. This group was formed to lead ACPE's efforts in identifying, exploring, and addressing bias within all aspects of ACPE. Over the past year, the Task Force has been meeting with leaders in the field, conducting research, and designing a survey to seek data and input from our membership.
The Task Force sent a survey via email on September 23, 2020 to every ACPE Certified Educator and Certified Educator Candidate and requests the completion of the survey by October 7, 2020.
Thank you for your time with this survey, and your commitment to helping ACPE with the hard work of becoming more just, for all of our educators, learners, and care recipients. Email Marc Medwed with questions.

Your ACPE colleagues need your input! Help us generate a good report to support salaries and positions. ACPE is asking all Certified Educators, Certified Educator Candidates, and Spiritual Care Professionals to participate in a salary survey. Data from this survey has proven to be helpful to those seeking positions, those who need data for internal salary structures, and new centers seeking to develop budgets. The more thorough you are in your answers, the more effective the data will be to support our colleagues. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete.
A separate survey for ACPE Psychotherapy and Practitioner members will be released at a later date.
Email Tiffany Kindred with questions or to request the another survey link.

You are invited to submit a workshop proposal for the 2021 ACPE Annual Conference, our first using virtual platforms and online resources, the week of May 3, 2021.
The 2021 ACPE conference theme, Creating Room to Breathe, invites the engagement of all our members with the urgency of this moment. We need all of our wisdom and best approaches as we face into the interlocking pandemics of bias, injustice and COVID-19.
Applications submitted by October 9, 2020 will be given consideration according to relevance to the conference theme, criteria, and the ACPE mission, vision, and values.

The due date for completing the peer review is October 31. If you have questions about the process, please contact Katherine Higgins.

These days are hard, and because of the weight many of us feel we are carrying in our hearts, guts, and minds, it is all too easy to overlook simple moments of joy. This poem offers a lovely reminder to see beyond the moment, to open ourselves to the possibility of joy when it sparks its way even into our mundane moments, perhaps even in aisle 5:

Coconut by Paul Hostovsky
Bear with me I want to tell you something about happiness it's hard to get at but the thing is I wasn't looking I was looking somewhere else when my son found it in the fruit section and came running holding it out in his small hands asking me what it was and could we keep it it only cost 99 cents hairy and brown hard as a rock and something swishing around inside and what on earth and where on earth and this was happiness this little ball of interest beating inside his chest this interestedness beaming out from his face pleading happiness and because I wasn't happy I said to put it back because I didn't want it because we didn't need it and because he was happy he started to cry right there in aisle five so when we got home we put it in the middle of the kitchen table and sat on either side of it and began to consider how to get inside of it
