New Hampshire Downloadable Books
Open Virtually 24/7
The library's subscription to NH Downloadable Books provides patrons access to very expensive content, in a very cost-effective manner. This would be impossible for the library to do alone, and without the wide selection of available titles. Patrons can download e-books, audiobooks, and magazines to their computer, tablet, smartphone or Kindle. Download the Libby for Overdrive app from your device’s App Store.
The Libby app will be used and linked directly to your library card. Be aware that if you are not able to download an item, it may be because you have an overdue book on your account,
or your card has expired.

9/18/25 Update:
Please know that OverDrive, our NHDB vendor, has made changes to suspended holds. In the past, Libby users would place a suspension for a specific period of time (7 days, etc.) and the book would unsuspend automatically.
Now, the patron must actively unsuspend the hold to resume their place in line for the title. This article from the vendor explains it nicely:
https://www.libbylife.com/blog/2025-09-17-everything-you-need-to-know-about-holds-in-the-libby-app
NHDB supports this change, and we encourage all to see the positive aspects of this update. Why? Too often, people will set a 7-day suspension, only to have the title sit in limbo for three days only to suspend it again. This can cause a copy to be in limbo for quite a while. Hopefully, this change helps get copies to our digital readers more quickly.
Thank you!

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler.
The goal is to read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten- and yes you can repeat books! We know that all kids have favorites! If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. By the time they start kindergarten, it's possible to have read 1,825 books together!
Not only will your child benefit from having a larger vocabulary, and more interest in reading, but studies have shown that reading to a child daily is an early indicator of academic success. The bonding time while you read to/with a child is possibly one of the most wonderful benefits!
Do you have questions? Need more logs?
Please call the library!

New Hampshire Humanities
presents Marek Bennett
Rally Round the Flag:
The American Civil War Through Folksong
Marek Bennett presents an overview of the American Civil War through the lens of period music. Audience members participate and sing along as the presenters explore lyrics, documents, and visual images from sources such as the Library of Congress. Through camp songs, parlor music, hymns, battlefield rallying cries, and fiddle tunes, Bennett examines the folksong as a means to enact living history, share perspectives, influence public perceptions of events, and simultaneously fuse and conserve cultures in times of change. Showcasing numerous instruments, the presenters challenge participants to find new connections between song, art, and politics in American history.
